You see, you cant make everyones opinion the same, i figure the meanings vary with the people who hear this song. I myself think of it as a song for shedding the "cover-up' we all have. we hide our true personalities beacuse we are afriad, In my vision this song is simply about getting rid of that and seeing that people can be trustworthy, "i dont have a gun' means that he wont hurt he\she if they open up. but, tahts my view. He is ready for death, he wants it to come as it will, the way it has to be and on it's own time. However the beauty in all poetry is the ability to pull a song out of context, while yes to my knowledge it is 'memoria' meaning death, its meaning can be shifted to fit the person, to fit the reference if one is being made. For example to the one comment involving relavence to feelings for a person; to them it may be speaking of how he wants her to be how she is, he doesn't care of past wrongs, and he has no weapons. Kurt Cobain's lyrics are just primarily contradictions almost comedic. You can tell that when he wrote these he most likely wrote just what was on his mind at the time and he wrote this song in 10 minutes. Nothing special about it. Listen to the MUSICAL articulation of this song, not the lyrics. And what I mean by musical articulation includes his vocal melody as well. These lyrics only have one 'specific' meaning to it and that is 'Come As You Are' Obviousy implying for people to be themselves. But, that is about it. He's ready to die and is telling Death to come to him on its' own terms: cleanly or messy, he doesn't care. He's been thinking of death and dying for a long time - his memories. He doesn't want to commit suicide, he wants Death to take him so he doesn't have to kill himself. Hence the assurance that he is willing to wait for Death by saying he doesn't have a gun...
