Colorblind Lyrics
Artist(Band):Counting Crows
Review The Song (11)Print the Lyrics
I am colorblind
Coffee black and egg white
Pull me out from inside
I am ready (Repeat 3 times)
I am taffy stuck and tongue tied
Stutter-shook and uptight
Pull me out from inside
I am ready (Repeat 3 times)
I am fine
I am covered in skin
No one gets to come in
Pull me out from inside
I am folded and unfolded and unfolding
I am colorblind
Coffee black and egg white
Pull me out from inside
I am ready (Repeat 3 times)
I am fine (Repeat 3 times)

Review about Colorblind

Almost... | Reviewer: harsh.truth. | 4/29/2008
when i listen to this song it seems almost painful. the singer sings it with such emotion. the lyrics have a cryptic meaning behind them. i love listening to this song when i close my eyes and let it wash over me.

One of the most amazing songs i've heard | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/14/2008

this song is def. how i feel alot not allowing someone to come inside and keeping everything to myself although i see things how they are and not in black and white this song def. made me think of things i do

    Interpretation | Reviewer: Anonymous2 | 12/13/2007

I think anyone can interpret the music from his/her own personal experience, it doesn't have to be romantic experience it could be any other experience. But great song

    just GREAT! | Reviewer: mary | 10/2/2007

Can´t believe someone can express so many things in such short song. But what amazes me the most is how this guy has described the song so perfectly!(the one below my comment) I´m glad I read this.
The song describes so good my personality "never lettin someone IN". One day I hope to find that person that makes me change my mind for good.
One day I´m gonna fall in love again...

Song Interpretation--A beautiful display of insecurity (Great Song!!!!) | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/12/2007

yeah this song is a bit cryptic....but my interpretation is that the song is about an individual who perceives some shortcomings in himself-- such as seeing things only in black and white/colorblind (simplicity or close-mindedness), being tongue-tied (the inability to speak up for himself), and closing himself off from others probably out of fear ("I am covered in skin. No one gets to come in")--and requests the help of another (possibly a lover)to pull him "out from inside" of this condition in which he is stuck. These statements of his shortcomings and the request of another to "pull [him] out from inside" show that he feels unable to change this condition by himself. The statement "I am ready" suggests his willingness for change. He is ready to allow himself to be developed through a romantic relationship and finally allow someone else to come in to his "skin". The song also seems to show that the individual is unsure of himself and constantly waivering in his decision to allow this change: The music is constantly ascending and descending as he builds up the strength to expresses his weakness and prepare himself for change--"I am ready"--only to go back to the state off not being sure that he can become a better person. The notes show his emotions as he goes back and forth between these feelings. With the final statement "I am fine" there is a musical resolution and all of the constantly ascending and descending notes end on one final releiving, beautiful note, suggesting either that he has been "pulled out" by this other person from which he requests help and is in fact "fine," or that he has realized that despite all of his perceived shortcomings he is "fine" as he is. Whatever the exact meaning of the song may be, it has an overpowering tone of contentedness. By the end of the songe the individual is eventually satisfied (probably not overly excited but definitely satisfied) with himself and his current condition.
