Closer To The Edge Lyrics - 30 Seconds to Mars

Review The Song (12)

I don't remember a moment I tried to forget (I don't remember the moment I tried to forget)
I lost myself, is it better not said
Now I'm closer to the edge

It was a thousand to one and a million to two
Time to go down in flames and I'm taking you
Closer to the edge

No I'm not saying I'm sorry
One day maybe we'll make it (One day maybe we'll meet again)
No I'm not saying I'm sorry
One day maybe we'll meet again
No no no no

Can you imagine a time when the truth ran free
The birth of a sun, the death of a dream
Closer to the edge

This never ending story paid for with pride and fate
We all fall short of glory

Lost in our fate

No I'm not saying I'm sorry
One day maybe we'll meet again
No I'm not saying I'm sorry
One day maybe we'll meet again
No no no no

No no no no
I will never forget
No no
I will never regret
No no
I will live my life

No no no no
I will never forget
No no
I will never regret
No no
I will live my life

No I'm not saying I'm sorry
One day maybe we'll meet again
No I'm not saying I'm sorry
One day maybe we'll meet again
No no no no

Closer to the edge
Closer to the edge
No no no no
Closer to the edge
Closer to the edge
No no no no

let's just enjoy music, guys | Reviewer: Chernika | 6/24/11

amazing song! i love 30 seconds to mars and everything they do. all of their songs are masterpieces and deeply touch my heart.
i think we should consider this especially song as a piece of art, not manifestation of independence from god or anything else. music is always out of religion, politics, science or whatever. it's about people and their feelings. and truly can be said that "closer to the edge" reflects inner feelings of many people. and it's really MY SONG, about MY LIFE, MY FATE, the highs and lows and how i deal with them! <3

This song is amazing | Reviewer: Penny | 6/7/11

The video to this songs makes me think way to hard. How my life is nothing what I wanted it to be. How life doesn't always work out the way we want it to. But I can always DREAM of being in a hugh crowd of people at Peace with each other if only for a Moment! Guess I should have been at woodstock!

AMAZING! | Reviewer: MARS~ | 4/22/11

I love this song, it makes me so happy! My day is horrible until I listen to it, it gives me hope that there is something more to look forward to and it reminds me to keep trying no matter what, and to follow my dreams. I love the Echelon, we are a family, it doesn't make me feel so alone in this dark world. ^_^

uh....jesus? i'm missing something.... | Reviewer: Veneficus | 4/15/11

ok i don't know if this is a anti-christian band or not so maybe they are talking about god but the lyrics and the feel of the song are so open to interpetation, i mean you could say it was about suicide or today's society or basically anything. i think that its song full of despair with a glimmer of hope, but i don't really see what god or jesus has to do with it. if you want to see it that way, ok, more power to you :) but i personally feel that everyone is entitled to thier own beliefs, and that includes not shoving it down someones throat, Nikki. i don't think 'God' would want us to treat each other the way you've treated the other reviewers, anymore than he wants us to burn in hell becuase we have our own opinions.

judge not lest ye be judged

Breaks My Heart | Reviewer: Nikki | 4/1/11

This song makes me sad. Sad, because I have a five month old daughter that I pray does not fall prey to a catchy beat that a pretty-faced band prides themselves on. It may be a chart-topper for a little while but it will fall and so will they. Music is a false idol folks. It can't save you. It didn't die for you. Only one person ever did that. Your savior, Jesus. And yes He will return and He will judge and EVERYONE will admit that he is Lord. But, what is even more shocking is that people will admit he is Lord and STILL REFUSE TO REPENT!!!! And those folks get the eternal pit of smoke, fire, and brimstone. See Revelations. All I ask of you readers is to seek the truth. It is promised that if you seek it, it will be given to you. Stop cherishing your oppinions.

Interpretation 101. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/31/11

...humpf, uh, I didn't see this as sac-religious...frankly, he doesn't say anything about God or any kind of idol. You can interpret this is many ways, and if you want to think it's about the coming of Christ that's fine. I think it's a very catchy song myself and I like it. It's one of my favorite songs. Like each musician, there's a reason behind each song they sing...whether it's a girl/boy, family problems, life experiences, life itself, or whatever. You can't blame 30 Seconds to Mars or any band/singer because you interpreted their song as sac-religious without knowing what it's truly about. I'm not sayin' you're wrong, but think about it.

Annd for the record, you don't outgrow Jesus. People choose to follow different paths. There isn't an age limitation on believing in Christ or anything...

Annd if "we all fall short of glory" is in the Bible, don't you think that he probably has read the Bible?

Buuut then again, everyone will interpret it differently or not at all. I didn't think anything of it, but whatev.

Peace.

I wouldn't really say this song is sac-religious. If you want to interpret it that way, be my guest. It very well could be. But I don't see it that way at all.
This is an amazing song, one of my favorites. I will always love 30 Seconds to Mars no matter what. ♥♥♥♥♥♥

wtf people dont outgrow jesus! | Reviewer: echleon-but christian | 1/23/11

I like mars I always will no matter what even if they turn satanist or write songs that are anti-christian. It's not our place to judge it's god's. But to the guy who was talking about outgrowing Jesus people don't outgrow jesus! They just choose for themselves only, I say fair play to those who look at BOTH possiblities and decide for themselves- but those who just go with science without even understand religion or the science for that matter can not truely judge either way. There are a lot of people who believe in Jesus and don't you forget it!

Whatever, John | Reviewer: Barenzo | 12/12/10

Sac-religious songs aren't a cheap shot, they're fair fucking game. Surely by now, we can have outgrown the idea of Jesus? Fair enough if come people need that and want that, but don't go saying that any song which is sac-religious is a cheap shot, the world needs more if anything.
