nice little "discussion" down here. all ofcourse got good points, I wouldn't pick someone is more right than the other about this song, it's your own subjective truth, although based on a lot that we all consider objectively true.

Me, as 6 out of 7 atheist, I wondered if this song could be interpreted from the "devil's" viewpoint, as I'm sure Aguilera had little to do with the actual composition of this song&lyrics, as with a lot of commercially succesful popsongs. It can be applied I concluded, but so can every human's viewpoint when it comes to desiring something you want or need for whatever reason.

So my thoughts: There's always a price to pay, some universal truth in this lyrics therefore. I wouldn't consider that true love, but it's the mating behaviour of mankind also, and as Jung said true love desolves two ego's into 1, you have to give up something of yourself, exactly the symbolic transaction made with the Devil. "The cost of our desires, sleep now in the fire" is what kaitlyn is suggesting, and from Rage against the Machine lyrics. Rage itself can become like a machine; systemic, like Jacyn rightfully argues considering censorship. Still this doesn't remove the notion that society does have a lot of harmful influences. You can hardly say it's natural for our society's children to be surrounded by sexual information, forming them, when their bodies and mind aren't naturally ready to cope with this information like adults are.

Consider all these subjective truths, maybe something objectively true can be found. But it's all about finding out, the actual answers are never satisfying in themselves. I'm happy to see that superficial comments in this thread have made way for deeper inquisition :)

This song is so catchy! I instantly fell in love with it after hearing it on the radio, and I just HAD to buy it. Christina's vocals are phenomenal on the whole record, she truly outdid herself. :) Although I would like to point out, the lyrics on this site are incorrect - it's "all I wanna do is LOVE your body", not the expletive.
