Chris De Burgh Lyrics

By the late 80s, it had taken Chris DeBurgh more than a
decade to become the "overnight success" so many mistakenly
believed him to be. To those unfamiliar with his steady,
determined rise to the top, he appeared to have arrived
suddenly - out of nowhere - clutching major, world-wide
hits with The Lady In Red and its accompanying album, Into
The Light. The reality is not so fanciful. In a music
industry which so often reacts to fashionable flavour and
superficial appeal, Chris remains unique; he is an island
of inspiration nestling More...

------ About the song Waiting For The Hurricane performed by Chris De Burgh

"Waiting for the hurricane" has everything I like in a good song: rhythm, good guitar, and - although it's not a slow song - serious lyrics. They paint small different pictures which all reminded me of the only Hurricane I witnessed.
The melody is very catchy and not easy to get rid off if you heard the song for the first time and liked it.

But: it resembles strongly Chris De Burghs "Don't pay the ferryman". Just like "Lady writer" from Dire Straits is dubbed to be the "little brother of "Sultans of Swing" - "Waiting for the hurricane" is the little brother of "Don't pay the ferryman". While "Don't pay the ferryman" is somewhat "harder" due to the implied warning, the chorus resembling the waining souls, and it tells a whole story instead of a mix of different scenes the two songs bear great similartiy to each other. The metrum within the lyrics change in both songs to emphasize different topics, the basic rhythm is catchy, the guitar plays a major role.

Both songs are very enjoyable - but if you make a playlist I don't recommend to put "Waiting for the Hurricane" directly before or after "Don't pay the ferryman".

------ About the song Crusader performed by Chris De Burgh

I think "Chris De Drunk" write this song when he is high. Or he is a fanatic of crusaders. Or Saladin rape his all family. Nor words neither music is good. It is a piece of crap. When i heard it on radio not believe what he is saying. Also cannot believe some publish this nonsence and sell it to people. "De Drunk" has to watch kingdom of heaven. "Chris De Warmongering"

------ About the song A Spaceman Came Travelling performed by Chris De Burgh

@Josh:
Have you ever heard of a term "licentia poetica"?
Besides, people sometimes use distance units as a measure of time (eg. we passed last station 20 miles ago, meaning the amount of time it takes to go for 20 miles)- that's not scientifically correct of course but understandable.

------ About the song Lady In Red performed by Chris De Burgh

As a child, I loved RED. This here song was my favourite song as a child, I know the words from start to finish. I still do know the words and I get very very nostalgic when I hear it. Chris Deburgh is my one hit wonder. I so love this song.

------ About the song Turn, Turn, Turn performed by Chris De Burgh

Beautiful song sung with passion.Wonderful DVD.This song and the words have carried the hopes of many people going through difficult times and enables people to deal with doldrums in the hope that any downturn can only improve for the better and that when we are high, prudence demands that we understand and realise that we need to make contingency for tumbles.I like it...in fact I like the whole of his re-do...Footsteps!!

On my list, Chris ranks high, next to Sir Paul McCartney.
