Celeste Buckingham Biography
A student of the Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, the 18 year-old singer and songwriter was born in Zurich Switzerland to a Swiss-American family. She lived in Alaska until she was three years old when her family relocated to Slovakia, where she began her musical career.
Celeste started writing songs at age 12. Her successful single “Blue Guitar” is one of her earliest songs.
Celeste’'s recent album "Don't Look Back" was released in April of 2012 with a number of top singles, including "Bleeding", "Don't Look Back", "Nobody Knows" and the summer hit, "Run Run Run" which became one of the most played songs on radios in Slovakia and the neighboring Czech Republic. All of the English songs on the album were written by Celeste with the exception of “Don’'t Look Back” which was written by her sister Carmel. Her Album received outstanding reviews.
In 2012 Celeste was nominated for EMA as the best Czechslovak Act. In February 2013, Celeste received the Slavik award as the "New of the Year", and the silver Slavik for "The Best Female Singer of the Year". She also receive the "Best Femal Singer of the Year" at the prestigious OTO Award in Slovakia and the prize for the "Song of the Year" for 'Run Run Run' at the Rebrik Award in the Czech Republic.
Celeste enjoys a wide range of music. She writes songs for herself as well as other musicians. “"My inspiration comes from all kinds of life situations that I experience”." she says. “ "I listen to a wide variety of music and I can never get enough. I try to put soul in my music”, “I especially love to listen to Joss Stone, Adele, and Amy Winehouse”, “ Some of my favorite groups and musicians are Maroon 5, The Fray, Super- Heavy, Eminem, Ed Sheeran, Tinie Tempah, and many others.”" She enjoys trying various styles, and says: ” I love to write songs not only for myself but for other artists as well. It's like being a chameleon, constantly changing colors, always trying new ideas”."
