Caught In A Hustle Lyrics - Immortal Technique

Review The Song (26)

[Verse 1]
They say the odds against me, are crooked and impossible
Like I was born with a hole in my heart as an obstacle,
or left to die by the doctors, in the childrens hospital
But I never lose hope, success is psychological
The world is volatile and the street is my education
Shaping the nation, like the blueprint of a mason
While Shawshank record deals get you raped on occasion
So I'm focused on my economic situation
I'm Like the little kids on T.V. that dig through the trash
I hustle regardless of the way you talk shit and laugh
A lot of niggaz drop science but they don't know the math
'cuz their mind is narrower than the righteous path
It's funny how 'on the block' niggaz will kill you for cash
But never raise their gun and cry out "Freedom at last."
The cold war is over, but the world is still gettin colder
sponsored links
Atlas walking through the projects with the hood on my shoulders
I would like to raise my children to grow to be soldiers
But then a general, would decide when their life would be over
So I work hard until my personality split
Like the Black Panthers, into the Bloodz and the Cripz
They said I'd never be shit, but now I sit and reminisce
Like Yeshua, Ben Yousef flippin through Genesis
Ignorance is venomous, and it murders the soul
SPREADING LIKE A VIRUS RUNNING RAMPANT, OUT OF CONTROL

[Hook]
So if I should ever fall and get caught in a hustle
Let them know that I died while I fought in a struggle
From the hoodrats to rich kids lost in a bubble
Spray paint it on the streets and in the subway tunnels
Write it down and remember, that we never gave in
The mind of a child is where the revolution begins
So if the solution has never been to look in yourself,
How is it that you expect to find it anywhere else?

[Verse 2]
Immortal Technique in the streets, back on the hustle
cause three strikes will get you life for stuffin cracks in a duffel
Upstate behind steel gates, attacked in the scuffle
Razor blades stuck on the side of pencils, hacked to your muscle
But the emptiness is what bleeds you to death when it cuts you
And its the lawyers, not the inmates scheming to fuck you
Trying to fight the system from inside, eventually corrupts you
But thats what you get when you put a corporation above you
And it's the people that love you that seem to hurt you the most
Sometimes when they die, you find yourself cursing their ghost
But you make success, nobody delivers your fate
Sometimes you give and you take
Since prehistoric vertebrates, crawled out of the lakes
And thats the truth about life
Or to do it to ghetto and your car, rims, and your ice
'cuz even though we survived through the struggle that made us
We still look at ourselves through the eyes of the people that hate us
But ima make it regardless of these trumped up charges
And semi-automatic barrages, that empty the cartridge
Post-traumatically scarred kids that try to be brave
'cus niggaz backstab each other just to try to get paid
Turn cannibal like knights during the crusades
Afraid of responsibility; Addicted to greed
Beating their girl purposefully losing a seed
As if we were bound to the destiny we used to receive

I used to wonder(I used to wonder) why people don't believe in theyselves
But then I saw the way they portrayed us to everyone else
They cursed us, to only see the worst in ourselves
blind to the fact the whole time we were hurting ourselves

I used to wonder(I used to wonder) why people don't believe in theyselves
But then I saw the way they portrayed us to everyone else
They cursed us, to only see the worst in ourselves
blind to the fact the whole time we were hurting ourselves

I used to wonder {*echo*, fade out)

Immortal Technique | Reviewer: Deborah | 3/19/11

Before I knew what he really raps about I already loved him. I feld truthness, strength, braveness. So now I know what he means, and I believe him. I love him way more now. I'm glad I already didn't whatch the news so often and I don't whatch t.v. and I'm glad about that. He says stop whatchin' t.v. and read. And I will! I'm not scared of any motherfucker in the world, although I know there is much to fear. It will hurt, the worst will happen, but I'm strong. Immortal Technique is even stronger, he can get killed every moment, he doesn't give a shit 'bout those bastards! Fuck pain, fuck hunger. It will hurt like hell, but I'm prepared. Motherfuckers!

wow! | Reviewer: rukhs | 6/10/09

tech is by far the best amongst the lucid underground rappers out there, his lyrics are thought-provoking and soooo deep that one has no choice but to actually 'think' about the corrrruppted world we live in. plus its a change from always listening to mainstream hip-hop, which i think is slippin now, theres no raw talent these days :( but tech is amazing!! xx

The way hip hop should b | Reviewer: Trajedi | 4/26/09

This is one of my favorite songs, if u like Immortal Technique I recomend Guru's Jazzmatazz series, Joe Budden Mood Muzik 1,2 & 3. Hip Hop portray's such a bullshit image in the media, & the sad part is most of the guys rapping about drugs & guns have never lived the lifestyle they are glamorizing. Its good to have some people in hip hop with a positive message

really immortal | Reviewer: The D | 4/3/09

this man is different, i can feel him - continue your hustle my man.
blind to the fact:-read and know before you judge is what he is saying(don't be americans talking shit about Islam and socialism before knowing even their sole definition.)
don't make me wonder cause i have enough of it-
campare him to you not 2pac, cause that is another bullshit way to see the worst in ourself and him.
the press and life in general have a way of ignoring the facts and focusing on crap news.
i will recomend as many ppl as possible the songs of this man.()

this shit is so real | Reviewer: carlos mejia | 3/2/09

i don't want to compare 2pac and immortal technique. But i must say that what their songs are about are real shit that takes great minds to be able to put these shit in music.

immortal techniques music is so real, so alive, so unique, so one of a kind. so so fucking different from other kinds of rap because this guy is intellectual.

tech | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/13/09

immortal tech is one of a kind. i learn more history and more bout the govt listening to his tracks then in my history class. and first of all plz you little kiddies out there dont compare pac and tech. faggots keep bringing up pac's name whenever you come across a decent artist and start debating which is better. tech incorporates whats occuring right now in the world presently and covers basically everything. every cover up that was made. struggles, conflicts, racism, democracy, government system, name it. tech is exposing that and letting the audience figure it for themselves. hes not just a rapper debating about political arguements. hes a man with a conscience and moral and just listening to him is motherfucking inspiring. pac & tech both different, both preach different shit, both lived in different worlds. stfu bout pac

correction | Reviewer: kenny | 1/12/09

this is to "Matt" Of course biggie has a better flow then pac, who has a better flow then Biggie? Tupac wasn't reconized for his flow, atleast I dont think he was... And as if you think snoop, dre, and ice cube rep the west better then pac did? Come on pac died for that shit, he def was no studio gangsta. I've heard of pac in the news back then did i ever hear of Snoop, dre was a bitch around tupac, tell me where the west coast woulda bin if pac didnt put them back on the map?

styles 4 miles | Reviewer: fewl one | 12/20/08

yo Immortal Technique is one of the rawest cats spittin today but to see people comparing him to these little mainstream artists is just sad.If you want other shit like him listen to the underground artists such as Army Of The Pharoahs, Jedi Mind Tricks, Celph Titled, etc.You get what I'm saying...come on seriously Tupac?Papoose? hahaha get ya bars up kids

Wow | Reviewer: Austin | 8/21/08

Tech is the shit. There isn't another rapper out there that spits like tech. His lyrics flow like no one else's and his lyrics make you think. Immortal Technique is the smartest rapper in the game. He doesn't rap about that main stream shit like money, cars, clothes, bitches. Thats not tech, he spits fire from the heart. I'm seein him in three days. So stoked.

Wow | Reviewer: Conn | 3/11/08

His lyrics are insane, he is definitely to be compared with tupac, if you knew anything about tupac ud know how intelligant he was and about the sensitive side with his early backround in poetry and painting, sort of similar to tech wen he gets into the deep things he spits about.
