It reminds me of a metaphor for a war veteran trieng to cope with the atrocities of war and finally committing suicide. But I didn't write the song, so I can't say waht the exact meaning is, but the vocals are delivered with conviction, and the whole musical structure is superb. This is a band that should have been selling millions of records in the 80's not Warrant or Trixter, or Slaughter. Savatage matured into a very talented band, this song is proof.
