I purchased the original on cassette in 1984. It was the first thing I had ever liked by the Carpenters. I had to make a copy to save in case the original was lost or damaged, but it's the one album that makes me happy every year after year. Karen's version of Little Alter Boy brings the season home, but I would vote the entire album the best of the best--by anyone.
