This song always takes me to Myrtle Beach,SC in the late 60's . Karen and I were college age and spent the summers in MB working. She was killed in a car wreck after the last summer there. I certainly go there "In my mind" every time I listen to this beautiful song!

My husband has looked at me in times of stress and has asked me where I am in my head. I simply say ... I'm in "Carolina in my mind". This song represents a place I put myself in for peace. "geese in flight" is movement to a calmer atmosphere. The sun, the moon are Divine gifts, while "holy host of others standing round me are my mom, dad and all loved ones who have passed ...here still guiding and lifting me. Very deep and meaningful song. My name "Karen", ironically just seems to personalize this song even more. Thank you James..for this song which has brought peace to me so many, many times.

The West is "the dark side of the moon" as far as the style and substance of its people are concerned. I miss old Carolina with all its peculiar nuances, traditions, grace and class. One of the most beautiful songs ever written. I had the pleasure of seeing James Taylor last year with Carol King. Problem was, I found it difficult to sing along without tearing up. Silly for a 43 year old guy, and I can't really explain it. Guess it just reaches inside.
