Cara Dillon seems to have seduced the entire nation in just
a couple of short, breathtaking, eventful years. Make that
several nations, for among the rare ingredients of
herirresistibly natural personality and mesmerising ability
to relate a great story in song, is an all-embracing
quality that defies borders, cultures and even languages.

After twiddling their thumbs tied to a record company
intent on turning them into pop stars for longer than they
care to remember, Cara and her partner Sam Lakeman finally
baled out to do their own thing. That thing, a beautiful,
melancholy self-titled album of folk songs ('Cara Dillon' /

------ About the song There Were Roses performed by Cara Dillon

I Think that this song is so sad but it would give you hope in a time of need. When My brother was murdered for being a catholic, i didn't know why someone should be killed for their beliefs. For a while i was unstable and didn't know what to do but then i listened to this song and i found the strength to move on.I Still think about my brother everyday and i owe it all to this song that im able to not let grief over take me.Amazing song and beautifully sung.

------ About the song Black Is the Colour performed by Cara Dillon

Cara Dillon has an amazingly beautiful voice - this song is a folk song - it's a story - Cara is the storyteller - it's not her story, but it is a story we can all identify with because we can all tune into the raw emotion felt by the author, whoever the object of your affection might be.

------ About the song There Were Roses performed by Cara Dillon

Just saw Kara live at Womad at the weekend - a fantastic performance, fantastic voice and a lovely pleasant personality. She did this song as an encore, but it wasn't the best one she did - she's got a very good repertoire and I will be definitely buying her CD

------ About the song Bonny Bonny performed by Cara Dillon

All of Cara Dillon's songs have a deep meaning behind it, but this one touched me most of all. The piano gives it a sense of sadness while the drumming in the back of it gives it the war feel. This song is what you would probably hear if a man was leaving his wife to go to war. This song touched me deeply and i cried after I heard it the first time.
I'm a big fan of Cara Dillon and I reccomend this song to anyone who is a true fan of her work.

------ About the song Never In A Million Years performed by Cara Dillon

This is a lovely celtic sound that anyone who likes Enya may like. Good background music, but beware: pretty soon you find yourself humming this melody, and words like "nevr in a million years" being sung under your breath. I might have found a new artist I really like.
