Source: http://christianmusic.com/burlaptocashmere/bio.html

Burlap to Cashmere was founded in Brooklyn, summer of '95, when Manager Jamison Ernest discovered cousins John Philippidis and Steven DeLopoulos playing in a coffee house.
Later, lifelong friends Mike Ernest (guitar), Theodore Pagano (drums), Roby Guarnera (bass), and Josh Zandman (key boards) joined. Lastly, Percussionist Scott Barksdale answered an ad in the paper to complete the band.
Burlap to Cashmere has a distinct sound made up of folk music combined with arrangements full of flamenco guitar, Afro-Cuban rhythms, and old-world Greek bazouki. |

Review about Burlap To Cashmere
AMAZING | Reviewer: Lisa | 9/11/2007Burlap to Cashmere was one of the best "unknown" finds I have ever experienced. They opened up for Dan Bern in 1997 in NYC. Although it seemed an odd couple to play in the same evening, I was pleasantly surprised by the musical talents by these young men. Their music was mystical, magical, and spiritual. I am not religious, but I still find their music and lyrics uplifting. This is one of my favorite bands and would be one of my top 10 if I were ever on a deserted island and had 10 CDs to listen to for the rest of my life. There are nuiances in the music I never get tired of hearing. They blow me away, even 10 years after discovering them. Find them on myspace.com/burlaptocashmere.
