Brompton Cocktail Lyrics - Avenged Sevenfold

Review The Song (19)

(Out of time...)
Doc, I'm dyin', I'm feeling compromised (feeling compromised)
and so dehumanized (so dehumanized!)
I lost my final fight to disease, I feel that this is where it ends
I need that shot to enter my vein
My Brompton Cocktail blend

’Cause I can't feel my face
I won't struggle long
In a world so cold
In a world so wrong

I'm not running away, been fighting this so long (so long)
Such a price that we pay, we gotta be so strong

In a lie...
I'm tired, induced euphoria (induced euphoria)
to help me move along (help me move along!)
I wanna meet my maker in peace, I want to feel alive again

So put that smile back on my face and mix it strong my friend.

’Cause I can't feel my face
I won't struggle long
In a world so cold
In a world so wrong

I'm not running away, been fighting this so long (so long)
Such a price that we pay, we gotta be so strong
And I take my life tonight ’cause I have the right to die how I wanna
and leave how I arrived, so alive

I believe my sins have been forgiven
and I believe my choice will save me from this life
please don't question why
my sins have been forgotten
I believe I'll find peace in afterlife
please don't question why
I left this way

’Cause I can't feel my face
I won't struggle long
In a world so cold
In a world so wrong

I'm not running away, been fighting this so long (so long)
Such a price that we pay, we gotta be so strong
And I take my life tonight ’cause I have the right to die how I wanna
and leave how I arrived, so alive
(Alive)

What it means to me... | Reviewer: TheForbiddenAce | 11/30/12

The song is simply veracious depiction of the train of thoughts and a perfectly stated state of mind of a sick person. The pureness of this song is what makes me think about life rather than the sad theme of it. Where people have no time to think and reflect about the harsh fact about life, any and all songs by avenged sevenfold appeals to that minority of audience who is not away from the from the beautiful of the life as it actually is, for real people in their real life. And this song takes its lead.
A dying man asking his doctor to fulfill his last wish- not to meet madonna or some silly wish- to let him die in peace.
A beautiful lie, which will make him feel beautiful and have those beautiful thoughts before he meets his maker.

the rev | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/16/12

this song was written by the rev years before his death. he was obviously quite depressed and suicidal as these lyrics show, and before i heard this song i refused to believe that the rev ended his life voluntarily. it is quite obvious that is what he did though. many think that fiction is his suicide note, but i disagree. i think fiction is simply him facing his own morality. he lived fairly dangerously, and was also born with a heart condition. he knew he was going to die early. he said it himself. i think that this song was really his suicide note. he just wanted to be gone from the world, and this is him saying that.

This song was actually written by the rev and it was how he died. This was a warning. He was born with an enlarged heart and as he got older it got worse, he even said he wouldn't live past thirty he wouldnt let himself. He also wrote and sang part of fiction which was his suicide note. There is a website saying this

Other meaning? | Reviewer: azrael136 | 10/2/11

I feel that there's a deeper meaning to this song. Yes, one meaning is about terminally ill cancer patients who were given the brompton mixture in the past and their feelings about it and what not. But another possible meaning could be just about someone who's tired of going about life feeling only pain, and if they die they want to die happy, which seemingly is by their own hand.

I think this song was written by a group of cancer patients. A7X just performed it. Well they did a damn good job I would say!!! Awesome sound and structure. love how the guitars blend with his voice.

makes my body hair stand on end! | Reviewer: Crypta333 | 3/10/11

This song is so awesome! I get chills almost everytime i hear it. The sound is ... well.... orgasmic like to me. I feel this song all over my body! And if you look I thinik it says the song was written by 5 or 6 people. Which suggests to me that cancer patients wrote it together or something. Yeah its about wanting to die via overdose of comfort drugs.

This song is like my past | Reviewer: FuGet | 3/8/11

Man...
I really-really-really love this song....
It's reminds me of my past....
I used to be a cancer patients too,and the doctor tell me if i feel pain, just used a morphine and cocaine....
Anyway...I love this song....
Too bad the song writer is gone...
Man,i can't believe it...

amazing song!! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/29/10

This song is amazing! Its about terminally ill person who dosent want to die a slow painfull death, they want to feel happy and alive one last time before death. Brompton cocktail is morphine and cocaine, therefore not feeling pain and being alive. Its about someone who has made peace with god and themself, and commits suicide, but its justified because of their situation. I think its about a persons choice to leave this world the way they choose too, since they are dying anyway. Its a very powerful and moving song. Its one of my favorite songs of any band!

Euthenasia | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/10/10

I don't know if thats how you spell it, but this song is about a terminally ill patient committing suicide. "I believe my sins have been forgiven
and I believe my choice will save me from this life". Most people believe suicide is a sin, but he's saying my sins have been forgotten for all the pain I've experienced. It's clearly about euthenasia being moral.

The Right to die how i wanna | Reviewer: T.A.G. | 2/11/10

I think this song is talking about having diseases, and shadows is speaking for all of the people who have to fight diseases because they want to be happy and thats what he means by "so put that smile back on my face and mix it strong my friend" because he knows that someday someone will find a cure for those people with diseases.........................This song speaks to people and this is why its a great song

the beginning | Reviewer: Aronn Wilke | 6/6/09

i like this song a lot but to be perfectly honest i think the best part of it is the beginning where it comes out of unbound with the heartbeat and goes into the wickedly awesome riff that almost made me cum the first time i heard it. if they continued with the riff it would be a different song but i think that it would probably be about 7X heavier.

Do you know what it is? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/10/09

I love this song !Its like one of my faves!♥Do you ppl even know what a REAL Brompton Cocktail is...?Probably not so ill tell you Its a mix of Morphine and cocaine as a shot used for terminal Cancer patience! Its still a good song any way!

My Brompton Cocktail blend~ | Reviewer: SBW | 12/16/08

Y'know, I hated this song the first time I heard it. Now, it's probably one of my favorites on the album.. along with Critical Acclaim and Almost Easy.
Album is WAY better than I'd have figured, too; THIS is how a band should go mainstream!
