Bring Me To Life Lyrics - Evanescence

Review The Song (60)

How can you see into my eyes like open doors?
Leading you down into my core where I've become so numb
Without a soul my spirit's sleeping somewhere cold
until you find it there and lead it back home

(Wake me up)
Wake me up inside
(I can't wake up)
Wake me up inside
(Save me)
call my name and save me from the dark
(Wake me up)
bid my blood to run
(I can't wake up)
before I come undone
(Save me)
save me from the nothing I've become

now that I know what I'm without
you can't just leave me
breathe into me and make me real
bring me to life

(Wake me up)
Wake me up inside
(I can't wake up)
Wake me up inside
(Save me)
call my name and save me from the dark
(Wake me up)
bid my blood to run
(I can't wake up)
before I come undone
(Save me)
save me from the nothing I've become

Bring me to life
(I've been living a lie, there's nothing inside)
Bring me to life

frozen inside without your touch
Without your love, darling
only you are the life among the dead

all this time I can't believe I couldn't see
kept in the dark but you were there in front of me
I've been sleeping a thousand years it seems
got to open my eyes to everything
Without a thought, without a voice, without a soul
don't let me die here
there must be something more
bring me to life

(Wake me up)
Wake me up inside
(I can't wake up)
Wake me up inside
(Save me)
call my name and save me from the dark
(Wake me up)
bid my blood to run
(I can't wake up)
before I come undone
(Save me)
save me from the nothing I've become

(Bring me to life)
I've been living a lie, there's nothing inside
(Bring me to life)

"Bring Me to Life" is a song by American rock band Evanescence. It was written by Amy Lee, Ben Moody and David Hodges and produced by Dave Fortman. It also features guest vocals from Paul McCoy of the band 12 Stones. Wind-up released "Bring Me to Life" in 2003 as the lead single from Evanescence's debut studio album, Fallen. The song delivers genres from alternative metal to rap-rock and gothic metal among others.

According to Lee, "Bring Me to Life" has several meanings and inspirations; its subjects are an incident in a restaurant, open-mindedness and waking up to the things which are missing in the protagonist's life. Lee later revealed that the song was inspired by her long-time friend and husband, Josh Hartzler. Critical response to the song was mostly positive, critics praising the melody of the song, Lee's vocals and their accompaniment by McCoy.

Following the inclusion of "Bring Me to Life" on the Daredevil soundtrack, it has become a commercial and critical success topping the charts in Australia, the United Kingdom and Italy. It charted in the top ten in more than fifteen countries including the United States, Argentina, Germany and New Zealand. "Bring Me to Life" was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and twice Platinum by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA). The lyrics of the song have been interpreted as a call for new life in Jesus Christ, which helped the song to chart on the Christian rock charts.

The band won in the category for Best Hard Rock Performance at the 46th Grammy Awards where the song was also nominated for Best Rock Song. The accompanying music video was directed by Philipp Stölzl; it shows Lee singing and climbing on a skyscraper while having nightmares in her bedroom. "Bring Me to Life" was part of the set list during the Fallen and The Open Door Tour. Many artists recorded cover versions of the song, including the classical singer Katherine Jenkins and American pianist, John Tesh. The song was also used on several television shows. Perception and Path that has been chosen | Reviewer: CLP | 4/27/14

This song is so powerful it makes us go to a deep place Inside and we reflect ourselves and lives in the way the lyrics talks
to us and makes us feel.

I do know that I do good around for others in need but I cannot lead their path in Life I walk on my path and follow my steps and lend a helping hand to others

** WE CAN ONLY DO OUR BEST SO THE QUESTION IS ABOUT:

DOES EVERYBODY DO THEIR BEST DEEPLY TRULY DO

OR

JUST SAY SO TO COVER UP THEIRSELVES THEIR FEELINGS AND DEPTH OF THE PERSON IS IN YOUR DETERMINATION WHICH BRINGS US ALL TO LIVE ON THE PATH OF OUR LIVES.

1ST ACHIEVMENT: Be True to yourselves and Love Honestly by doing so you are moving forward and step by step will be able to

DETERMINE *** And by Doing SO this will bring you

TO LIFE YOUR LIFE HERE ON EARTH TO LIVE BREATHE LOVE
WITH HONESTY AND INTEGRITY AND PERCEPTIONS ARE ONLY THOUGHT THREW
EACH OTHERS PERSONAL JOURNEY SO FAR HERE ON EARTH SO CAN WE PLEASE JUST ALL AGREE THAT WE CAN DISAGREE BUT JUST LEND A HELPING HAND TO MOVE FORWARD FOR A BETTER LIFE AND LIVE PEACE AND
HARMONY BY DOING A DIFFERENCE STEP BY STEP AND BE TRUE TO OURSELVES IN ORDER TO BE FREE

Giver and taker. | Reviewer: Katherine | 5/5/13

She is a giver - a natural empath who has known this man for a very long time and loved him- though she has never told him the depth of her feelings. Always putting him first - she has helped him over and over again - even saving his life. Each time she helps him it takes a little more away from her. This song is about the breaking point - her strength is so tapped out that she feels she has given him everything and she has nothing left. The beginning of the song speaks directly to how she has opened up to him so much that he can look into her eyes and into her soul yet he is a taker - so he took her energy and left her there depleted. She is asking - no - begging him to give back. To save her from the dark place he left her. She is scared - feeling so empty and dead inside - that she can not bring herself back this time. So she calls out to him. He realizes that he as been living a lie and sees how the real thing has always been right there in front of him. It's about being on the edge of too late - she has given him everything when he needed it - only to walk away until he needed her again. Now she is frozen without his touch - without his love. She needs him to become the giver and breathe life back into her.

The Truth | Reviewer: Tiffany Alberti | 12/9/11

If you watch the music video to the song you will see that the song is somewhat of a duet. She is professing her love to the man singing with her and he is the one who responds to her love with "I've been living a lie. There's nothing inside". He is saying to her basically that it does not matter how cold and empty she is without him that he is leaving her and to tell her the truth he never really felt anything for her to begin with. In the music video she is hanging fromk a ledge and he is holding her hand and she is begging him to bring her back to life by retuning to her and he wrenches his hand from her causing her to fall and once she falls he screams "I've been living a lie. There's nothing inside".

A Song That Describes Me... | Reviewer: DeadOrAlive | 4/11/11

1st of all to someone (ejem cathy): FU! America is a continent, not a country, so don't speak for everyone else, and don't try to make "America" work only for north america, so STFU and listen: this song describes people like me, that have fallen through a lot of lies and now feel like we are dead and alive. and also everyone has the right to complain about anything they want to, so don't tell us what to do got it?, yeah, there are people who are suffering even worse, but still, it doesn't change anything just because you live in North America. Let Us Live Once Again, this song rocks!

looooooove! | Reviewer: BoPoHa | 6/28/10

This song is what started it for me. I heard it once on the radio, and when it was done I felt so... Colourfull and blue, inspired. Full of energy but in the crying mood. It stuck in my head and I'm like AH! Becuase as often as I listened, as many channels as I tried, I only heard it once more. That's how I began my search for Evanescence. And now i got the cd and i can listen to this song over and over and over etc, etc... I swear, it will never get old. Can't you just see Amy sitting, seemingly dead, infront of an open window in a dark room? Waiting to be brought to life...

I absolutely love this song..I have never listened to rock..mainly r&b and hip hop but this song has totally turned me around..I am always a fan of a powerful singing voice and the lead girl has it!!

waking up- E.N.B. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/11/10

i have re-listened to this song about 100 times and i love how each time i can get a variation on what she is trying to say. but it's all with the same underlying passion, she doesn't like what she has become with out her lover. she feels alone, and numb as if to say this other person was her "life support". "wake me up" is something that can be interpreted in many ways, but the vibe that i got is that she is stuck in her own lonely world and wants to be taken away from it. to have the pain taken away from her. "you can't just leave me" supports the idea of a lover that has left her, but i wouldn't say leaving, its more to the effect that it was death. "frozen inside without our touch/ without your love, darling" shows her thirst for this feeling again. "..But you were right in front of me" she realizes to late that he never left her, he was always there, just not physically. she says "there's nothing inside" nothing left. it leaves the listener to contemplate wether she killed herself, or was finally brought back to life.

all whiners in America | Reviewer: cathy | 3/14/10

For all of you people who are complaining how hard life is. GET OVER IT. You live in America one of the countries with the most opportunities. HERE IS A HARD LIFE.TRY LIVING IN A DUMP. YES I SAID DUMP. THERE ARE PEOPLE AND CHILDREN LIVING IN A DUMP IN NICARAGA. THEY HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE DUMP TRUCK TO COME TO EAT. ALL YOU WHINERS PROBABLY HAVE HOMES AND ROOMS WITH FURNITURE, REFRIGERATORS WITH FOOD,HEAT AND RUNNING CLEAN WATER, NICE CLOTHES, CELL PHONES,WII'S, iPODS..etc.STOP AND THINK A MOMENT OF ALL THAT YOU HAVE, AND ALL THAT OTHERS DON'T BE THANKFUL, DON'T COMPLAIN.

This really is a great song. One thing I never figured out was why the band Evanescence counts as a Christian band? The only song I could think of that ever has a slight allusion to god would be "Tourniquet"

"My god, my tourniqet"

this isn't about christ | Reviewer: katherine | 6/30/09

this is a great song but it is not about god or any religion...it's about finding that one person...your soulmate who "brings you to live" when you meet them...like some people say 'the first day of the rest of our lives' when they get married...same principal here after meeting that special someone...saying they can't live without them because they've brought so much into their life and made them see and feel things they hadn't before....and it is true...when you fall in love you do view things different.

you are such a fucking idiot.

everyone copes differently, and everybody's perception on life is unique.
even if you have a loving family and friends, its not going to stop some people from depression and pessimism.
the threshold for pain isnt the same for everyone.
even if someone is surrounded by people, they can still feel alone.
just because they arent homeless and broke, doesnt mean they cant feel pain.
so go fuck yourself.

Good Good and more Good From This Song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/18/09

It's just unbelieveable to how many people can connect with it. I know people who are fighting for this country and enjoy this song, and I got through a break up a year ago and wanted so bad to be taken back, but was saved by my current one and only, who saved me by being a shoulder to cry on. I love this band to death and I only hope they keep going up, up and up from here on. It's opened my eyes, and I know it'll open many other's. Peace out people, and take life a day at a time, some good's bound to come from it ya.

a song can touch people in different ways. they can see and feel the song and get emotional about it. it may relate to their lives in some way, not saying everyone has a shitty life or not; but still its beside the point. its a great song and should be seen as one. some people do have horrible lives and can really relate to this song others find it an inspiration or a realization for others. its their own opinion. so just dont call emo kids fags they're not fags. half of them arent even gay/bi or w/e they're straight. they go by the sterotype not the true understanding about things. so just lay off of them.
