Brighton Rock Lyrics - Queen
Review The Song (9)
Words and music by Brian May
Happy little day Jimmy went away
Met his little Jenny on a public holiday
A happy pair they made so decorously laid
'Neath the gay illuminations all along the promenade
It's so good to know there's still a little magic in the air
I'll weave my spell
Jenny will you stay tarry with me pray
Nothing e'er need come between us
Tell me love what do you say?
Oh no I must away to my mum in disarray
If my mother should discover how I spent my holiday
It would be of small avail to talk of magic in the air
I'll say farewell
Oh rock of ages do not crumble
Love is breathing still
Oh lady moon shine down
A little peep of magic if you will
Jenny pines away writes a letter ev'ry day
We must ever be together
Nothing can my love erase
Oh no I'm compromised
I must apologize if my lady should discover
How I spent my holidays
Happy little day Jimmy went away
Met his little Jenny on a public holiday
A happy pair they made so decorously laid
'Neath the gay illuminations all along the promenade
It's so good to know there's still a little magic in the air
I'll weave my spell
Jenny will you stay tarry with me pray
Nothing e'er need come between us
Tell me love what do you say?
Oh no I must away to my mum in disarray
If my mother should discover how I spent my holiday
It would be of small avail to talk of magic in the air
I'll say farewell
Oh rock of ages do not crumble
Love is breathing still
Oh lady moon shine down
A little peep of magic if you will
Jenny pines away writes a letter ev'ry day
We must ever be together
Nothing can my love erase
Oh no I'm compromised
I must apologize if my lady should discover
How I spent my holidays

Sheer Heart Attack was the first album i bought, on casette, when i was 11, (28 now) and imagine the first track on the album sounding like this... heard this song countless times, never gets old, never gets boring, just absolute musical geneous throughout. My favorite track bar none

Amazing to be sure. I think Roger sings the opening bars with Freedy taking over in the last lines of the verse (a liile magic in the air) I think Brian sings in the last verse. Damn they can all sing so well it's hard to tell sometimes. These early albums (first 4) are so good. They didn't improve on them until Jazz.
Wow! | Reviewer: Niloo | 12/20/09
Yes, the guitar solo is superb. but all parts of the song are also mind blowing! like John's amazing bass line, Roger's rocking drums and of course dear Freddie's unforgettable voice. And what can you expect from Queen but " perfection " ?
Before I listen to this song, I thought that the guitar solo of Zeppelin's " Stairway to Heaven " is the best of all time, but " Brighton Rock " changed my point of view, you know!
AMAZING | Reviewer: ca | 9/12/09
just that! please, listen to that solo!! it's just wonderful, there're not enough words to describe it, and roger!!! come on, he makes magic with that drums, and freddy, ok, he is completely perfect, divine, SUBLIME! perfect work, queen is the best ever!
Queen at its best.. as always | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/5/09
This is not only a mindblowing guitar solo, one of the best and not only in Queen catalogue, it's also a great lyric with obviously superb vocal perfomance, but please!! listen to the drumming is just insane!! and what do you say about john's bass before the solo ends?? It's not only the guitar, a song to stand up!! come on!!!
Brighton Rock - rock guitar heaven and poetry to boot... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/27/09
Yep, the song is great and the guitar work is mind-blowing. The lyrics are a story too, told in typical Brian May poetic style; what's not to like.
Oh, and you've got the same error in the lyrics as everyone else; it's "little peep of magic" not "little people magic". It makes a lot more sense that way, and I was told that by Brian May, who wrote the thing. Heh heh, name dropping or what...
A love it ! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/4/08
This is a great song! I love it!
I like the "It would be of small avail to talk of magic in the air" the freddie's voice is so amazing !!
and, of course, the "Oh, rock of ages" is awesome! I simply love it!!
