Bridge Over Troubled Water Lyrics - Simon and Garfunkel

Review The Song (2)

When you're weary; feeling small,
When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all;
I'm on your side oh when times get rough
And friends just can't be found.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.

When you're down and out;
when you're on the street;
when evening falls so hard
I will comfort you.
I'll take your part
oh when darkness comes.
And pain is all around.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

Sail on silvergirl;
sail on by.
Your time has come to shine.
All your dreams are on their way.
See how they shine.
Oh if you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind.

Not the song of a generation, the song of the minority! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/1/10

I'm sorry but 1961 to 1970 i'd give you but by the late 60s it was just a bunch of unprincipled hippies jumping on a band wagon! Undeniably, though, this is an incredible song. It is for the minority of idealists who strove to better us and led the way, not a mass movement. that's simply a myth created surrounding the 'swinging' sixties'!!

song of a generation | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/14/07

few songs capture the tumult and raw emotion that was the late 60's and early 70's like this gem. classic among classics.
