Two Southern musicians, David Gates of Tulsa, Oklahoma and
James Griffin of Memphis, Tennessee, were struck
simultaneously by a bolt of ambition, and in 1962 found
their separate paths to Los Angeles, California, where
music seemed to be flourishing with great potential for
talented people to express themselves creatively. Both
David and James were constantly honing their skills as
writers, instrumentalists, and arrangers in many musical
circles around L.A., plugging their songs and penning tunes
for a litany of contemporaneous recording artists.
In the meantime, a singer and guitarist, Rob Royer, had
been cowriting with Jim Griffin with good success. For All
We Know, 1970 Oscar winner for Song of the Year, was one of
the results of that collaboration. David Gate More...
i love this song. so sad yet it touches my heart. the lyrics is damn awesome.
yeah, i must admit it's the wordings and even it's melody that i am so fascinated about.i always hate goodbyes yet this song reminds me that goodbye is inevitable in this journey. it will always brings tears in our eyes especially if it's between you and someone who already left a mark in your heart.
goodbye--that's the saadest word in the dictionary.accepting the idea of being sad and going through it is an act of courageousnes, but we have to bec that is what life all about. (sigh!!!)

------ About the song Everything I Own performed by Bread
There are so many ways to look at this song. To me, it reminds me of my parents, who were killed in a tragic accident when I was only 13 years old. The words are exactly how ot feels, even though I am now 38 years old. This is one of those songs that is hard for me to hear, but I HAVE TO HEAR.

------ About the song Aubrey performed by Bread
My daughter is named Aubrey, She is now 4 years old and is as beautiful as the song. she was struck with meningitis when she was 11 months old and i sang her her song everyday as she lay in a coma. She recovered fully. Now when i play her her song I wipe a few tears as she dances around and remember the strength of feeling it roused in me duing that sad time. I believe to this day she heard me and came back to it's call.
Love You Aubs you are a very special little girl.

------ About the song Aubrey performed by Bread
I was broken hearted back then, when someone send me a greetings with this song on the radio, with a message, still love you and thinking of you.
That song and that message made me strong knowing that he loved me that much.

------ About the song If performed by Bread
Wish I had written this simple haunting melody to go with the lovely lyric. I enjoy putting this in my shows and have had many requests to repeat the song. That last note is a clincher and seems to make the teardrops fall. Idamarie
