Chevelle Brainiac Lyrics

Last updated: 01/03/2011 10:00:00 AM

Time hold us for a minute,
It dries the wrists like penicillin
Each of these men holds a pentagram
So ease up on the slurs
They're pushing off the charts

We know him as one cell
Should've combined to save brains.
How 'bout I teach him to crawl.
Lift up the head so proud.
Imagine this one cell.

He's gotten through the piss
So he can blame few
Slept off the chainsaw buzz
This passing eye-sore
These are the longest days
Sits like a razor
How many found?

We know we miss one cell
Should've combined to save brains.
How 'bout I teach him to crawl.
Lift up the head so proud.
Imagine this one cell.

This defines him
So useless these rules
Tempting timing
I should use the same tools

We know we miss one cell
Should've combined to save brains.
How 'bout I teach him to crawl.
Lift up the head so proud.
Imagine this one cell.

Should've combined to save brains.
How 'bout I teach him to crawl.
Lift up the head so proud.
Imagine this one cell.

Imagine this
Imagine this
Imagine this
One.

uncle has a debut | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/3/11

Its interesting how some of you tried to interpret the lyrics but chevelle has gone on record about how the song braniac was about an uncle that everyone in their family made fun of for not being the brightest guy around haha

Puzzling pieces | Reviewer: ChimeraXIII | 7/15/10

Most of the song makes a little sense, even before you learn about Chevelle. Joe's departure must have played a pivotal role in both their song writing process and the dynamic of the band. Obviously, the focal point of this song is realizing something is missing. Be it one brother, represented as one cell of a brain, or a piece of someones life in any other respect. You have to learn to cope and adjust.
But there are some lines in here that puzzle me.
"Each of these men holds a pentagram"
There's a deep, eerie symbolism that I just can't place in context here. It bothers me more because it strays so far off the thematic core of the other lyrics. It can't be a pointless, random, space filler. Pete just doesn't do that.
The other parts are still cryptic, but they generally point in the same direction.
Just that one line that really, truly, and perpetually escapes me.
Any thoughts from the Peanut Gallery?

i believe that this song could possibly be pointing at a diffinitive to the fact that a group of people might have tried to creat human but thay failed because in there end. There was a reproductive cell missing in the end result. I think there is some reference in the fact that several people could have in a colaboration could have made the right end product but since there was some communication error thay failed.

Great Song! | Reviewer: Daniel | 11/27/08

Can't quite put it into definitive words, but Chevelle is just "head-bangin'" good, especially the new album, Vena Sera. If you are looking to get out some pent-up aggression, Chevelle is definitely the band to help, and Brainiac is a good song to start with.

Such a sick rhythm | Reviewer: Me | 12/15/07

Something about how the chorus of this song drives just makes your head bounce. It's a really good song otherwise, the lyrics seem hostile but the groove is really fun.

This song is a great example of how well-timed rests can function to enhance the bounce of a song. Plus Chevelle's drummer is great at using his double-bass pedal for enforcing the groove.

If you haven't listened to Chevelle before, I would recommend starting out with this song, or even with the Vena Sera album in general, for this album grew on me much faster than any of their others.

LOVE IT! | Reviewer: Brittany | 5/25/07

Sickest song ever done by Chevell! All of Chevell's songs are awesome, but this one is by far my favorite! The use of their instruments is so sick.
