Boondocks Lyrics - Little Big Town

Review The Song (4)

(Karen Fairchild/Kimberly Roads/Phillip Sweet/Jimi Westbrook/Wayne Kirkpatrick)

I feel no shame
I'm proud of where I came from
I was born and raised in the boondocks
One thing I know
No matter where I go
I keep my heart and soul in the boondocks

And I can feel that
Muddy water running through my veins
And I can hear that
Lullaby of a midnight train
It sings to me and
It sounds familiar

I feel no shame
I'm proud of where I came from
I was born and raised in the boondocks

One thing I know
No matter where I go
I keep my heart and soul in the boondocks

And I can taste that
Honeysuckle and it's still so sweet
When it grows wild
On the banks down an old camp creek
Yeah, and it calls to me like a warm wind blowing

I feel no shame
I'm proud of where I came from
I was born and raised in the boondocks
One thing I know
No matter where I go
I keep my heart and soul in the boondocks

It's where I learned about living
It's where I learned about love
It's where I learned about working hard
And having a little was just enough

It's where I learned about Jesus
And knowing where I stand
You can take it or leave it
This is me
This is who I am

Give me a tin roof
A front porch and a
Gravel road
And that's home to me
It feels like home to me

I feel no shame
I'm proud of where I came from
I was born and raised in the boondocks
One thing I know
No matter where I go
I keep my heart and soul in the boondocks

I keep my heart and soul in the boondocks

You get a line
I'll get a pole
We'll go fishing in the
Crawfish hole
Five-card poker on a Saturday night
Church on Sunday morning

You get a line
I'll get a pole
We'll go fishing in the
Crawfish hole
(Down in the boondocks)
Five-card poker on a Saturday night
Church on Sunday morning

You get a line
I'll get a pole
We'll go fishing in the
Crawfish hole
(Down in the boondocks)
Five-card poker on a Saturday night
Church on Sunday morning
(Say a little prayer for me)

(Repeat 4x)

Awesome song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/2/10

In 2004, we bought a house in a sleepy little town in south Mississippi. In 2005, it was ravaged by Hurricane Katrina. It was devastating, but it is still one of my favorite places in the world. This song reminds me of that place. I heard it for the first time just two nights ago on the car radio and I haven't been able to get enough of it since.

My Son | Reviewer: Jana | 8/2/08

My son came home for a visit from the Navy. I remember this song planning on the radio as I listened to him sing it in the back seat...loved his voice.
September 3, 2007 two Navy Officers came to my house to tell me that Evan had died in a car accident...I could not remember this song...I knew I wanted to hear it...I just couldn't remember the lyrics. Mother's Day 2008 my husband and I were traveling to see my mother...and the song came on the radio...what a great Mother's Day gift. I cried, but listened to every word and remembered listening to Evan sing in the back of my car.
Thank you!!

Love it! | Reviewer: KA | 6/29/07

I have loved this song since the first time i heard it. I reminds me of the life my father lived as a child. He passed away in 2004, but he loved to tell the stories of growing up in the country, in a little town. This song makes me feel like im listening to those stories all over again.

Perfect | Reviewer: Laura | 11/29/06

This was one of my favorite songs! I loved it and it never got old to me every time i heard it. Then my 16 year old cousin passed away from liver failure. He was a great hunter and a big outdoors kind of guy, so this song fit him to a 'T'. This song was also his favorie song, and it was played at his funeral in February. So, every time I hear this song...I have to change the station. But someday I know that I will be able to listen to the whole thing, and maybe not cry...someday.
