Bonnie Tyler Lyrics

Renegade Angel

Bonnie Tyler has been a world star since 1976, when she
stormed the charts with the infectious 'Lost in France'.
She has consistently been one of Britain's top-selling
female artists and has twice enjoyed incredible
international success.

Bonnie was born 'Gaynor Hopkins', in 1951 (not 1953, as
many biographies claim!) in the small village of Skewen,
outside Swansea, in South Wales. For as long as she can
remember music has played a huge part in her life. In fact

------ About the song Holding Out For A Hero performed by Bonnie Tyler

Dean Pitchford wanted Bonnie Tyler to do a song for Footloose. Tyler was working with Jim Steinman...so he decided to try to get JIM interested in the idea. Knowing his fondness for over-the-top Wagnerian rock, he had to come up with something that interested Jim. He came up with the first two lines: Where have all the good men gone/And where are all the gods?/Where's the street-wise Hercules/To fight the rising odds?

Jim took that...and wrote the song that day.

Recording it, Steinman played the piano. When they were finished, someone noticed the piano had stains on the keys. Steinman had been pounding the keys hard enough that his fingers were bleeding.

------ About the song Total Eclipse Of The Heart performed by Bonnie Tyler

It's a love song. The singer is terrified that the man she loves doesn't want her, oblivious to his trying to tell her he loves her. (Him telling her to "turn around".)

This song would make a great video (better than the official one), and a simple one: the singer is in a spotlight, moving around in a large, otherwise-bare room. Behind her is a man; he's in deep shadow and visible mostly as a silhouette. She moves as she sings...her movements are mostly aimless, but always leave him behind her. As he implores her to turn around, his hands come into the light. At the end of the song, at the last repetition of "turn around", she does...upon seeing he is there, she suddenly runs to him, leaps into his arms, and kisses him passionately as the screen fades to black.

------ About the song Have You Ever Seen The Rain? performed by Bonnie Tyler

I'm a big John Fogerty fan (with or without CCR), so I figured I'd give this a listen. WOW! What a great performance. If someone had told me a disco-influenced cover of a CCR song would sound good, I'd have laughed...but this is superb.

What a brilliant song and another masterpiece by Jim Steinman. You can just imagine Meatloaf singing this song. The line "we're living in a powder keg and giving off sparks" is quintessential Jim Steinman, reminds me of Two Out of Three Ain't Bad and the line "but there ain't no coupe deville hiding in the bottom of a crackerjack box".

If you want to hear an awesome version of this song, go to youtube and type in Dan Band. You will see Total Eclipse of the Heart listed. It's the best cover version of this song. I think it's even better than Bonnie Tyler's version.

------ About the song I Need a Hero performed by Bonnie Tyler

We used this song as an "entrance theme" for my friend Ty as he entered the arena in a bratwurst-eating contest that took place at Joint Base Balad, Iraq. With a fire in his eyes and an American flag cape flying in the wind behind his not-so-muscular shoulders, this is the White Knight every woman is looking for. Thank You Bonnie Tyler!!!

------ About the song IT'S A HEARTACHE performed by Bonnie Tyler

If I would have listened to this song 3 years ago I would have probably never resurfaced from the depths of depression. I'm fine now, but still the song makes me remember when I was hurt.

Anyways, the song is beautiful.

------ About the song TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEART performed by Bonnie Tyler

The first time I heard this song I was a teenager and I couldn't speak English, so I couldn't understand a single word. Nevertheless, I was really impressed by the music, and since then it has been one of my favorite songs.

Contrary to other songs, I'm happy to find that understanding its lyrics have improved a really great and touching song.
