Lyrics - Bone Thugs-N-Harmony Lyrics

The rise of Cleveland's Bone Thugs-N-Harmony is a classic
example of the American Dream, a group of five young
"brothas" who had a goal and would not allow any barriers
to stop from attaining this goal. Layzie Bone, Krayzie
Bone, Wish Bone, Flesh-N-Bone and Bizzy Bone went from
being broke, hungry and homeless in 1993 to watching their
brand of flowing, rolling, rapid-clip, harmonized rap --
dubbed the "Cleveland Sound" -- hit the top of the charts.
In November 1993, they bought one-way Greyhound tickets to
Los Angeles determined to prove their talents to their
favorite rapper, the late Eric "Eazy-E" Wright of N.W.A.
fame. They spent months living on the street, constantly
trying to contact Eazy-E, until they finally received a
call from him. They rapped for him More...

bone thugs have been my favorite rap group since i was 16. from their style to their message, they've always delivered more than typical albums/radio singles. they've never been concerned with anything but being true to themselves and i think anyone can sense that. it's never been a front with them and thats why they are well respected. i still listen to the art of war EVERYDAY!!! CLASSIC ALBUM! (their best in my opinion). i've grown to respect their solo albums but theres nothing like listening to the five of them...even Wish! (why do people hate on him so, wish is the heart of bone). i'm looking forward to uni5 and i hope they deliver more harmony on this album. i think alot of fans miss the harmony...that's what made us listen to them none stop in '94. bottom line: there will never be another rap group like them in our time or maybe ever!

------ About artist/band Bone Thugs-N-Harmony
well where to start? bone thugs, i first heard about them back in 1999. wish i heard of them sooner but dad wasnt entirely into that kinda stuff. anyways, E. 1999 Eternal, was the first album i heard and my brothers and i were emmediately fans of the bone thugs and are still. whenever i hear a bone thug track i tend to reminice about the good days when i didnt need to worry about the rest of the afternoon. it makes me wish i could go back to those days. yeah, always the bone thugs were playing on our stereo whenever we chilled out and they got the right flow for that kind of thing too. when i hear their style and rhymes it sounds like its still new and fresh and i think its because hardly any other artist do how "they" do. naw mean? bizzy is the man on that song 'body rot' - wish was cool on 'cross roads' and on krazie's solo album (thug mentality), 'heated heavy' he was FULL-ON! flesh was wicked whenever i hear him because his voice was like wispers in alot of the tracks he was in and he about as fast as fast can get! layzie is unrivalled in his way and when he teamed with Twista in 'midwest invasion' he smacked other rappers down 6 feet under.
they are all way too cool and glad they are still going even though production is a little slow right now. i always keep an eye out for any of them bone boys for new tracks because they gave me peace in times of crap and im just straight-up addicted to them!
peace and peaceout. go hard. bone bone bone bone bone.

------ About the song 1st Of Tha Month performed by Bone Thugs-N-Harmony
I wish these young AA gentleman wouldn't squander their talent. Unlike a lot of "Gangsta Rappers", these guys have good vocal harmony skills, and are obviously influenced by either religious or positive secular R'n'B performers. But why sing about the pieces of shit that sell hard drugs to people who are wasting their SSI/SSDI benefits? They're glorifying the sale of crack and heroin to people who are already disabled and who should be using this money for rent and food. Pieces of SHIT!!!

------ About the song 1st Of Tha Month performed by Bone Thugs-N-Harmony
Umm...actually it is about using welfare checks to buy weed and 40s. I work with gangstas and drug addicts. Trust me. They'll be glad to tell you the same thing. When the welfare check comes, they have money to get high without having to hustle for it. For those who slang it they get to buy a bigger supply off that. Seriously, thinking like in this song is why the ghetto will stay ghetto and none of them will get ahead in life.

BTNH are the greatest group ever and their songs are so real. And all you bigot haters on this board this song is not about people using their welfare money to buy weed and 40s, its about findin a way to get thru a struggle and havin a good time, hence Krazie's verse when he talks about him and his family and friends getting together around the grill and eating and havin fun, understand the message before you go on a rant like that "Reality Check", i dont know what kind of reality you live in, but Racism is played out kiddo

This song demonstrates how black people are taking advantage of The Man, that same Man who they talk about keeping them down. Why don't you get jobs instead of sitting around on government handouts smoking drugs?

yeah just because it is an unfortunate circumstance to have to live off of public assistance doesn't mean you spend that shit on weed and 40ozs. that's why the gov. wants strip poor people of welfare because they don't know how to utilize the aid in a positive fashion. would i drink and smoke if i was poor...probably. but i sure wouldn't expect anyone else to pay for it ie people's tax money.

Yes, that is what the song is about BUT it isnt a horrible song, people have to live through things like that and theyre singing about their experiences. It might not be something you're familiar with or you want to do or have your eyes open to but i dont think reviewing it as a hrorible song is the way to go. Its a top song!
Greatest thing in rap... | Reviewer: Coyofox
------ About artist/band Bone Thugs-N-Harmony
As a person who normally disdains rap and hip-hop, I would say I'd have to make an exception for Bone Thugs (as well as a few other rappers). I grew up listening to Black Sabbath and Pantera and Sammy Hagar and lots of other thrash and metal music, and didn't care too much for rap, but the first time I actually paid attention to Bone, they were fucking awesome! They gave me a rhythm and style of rap I could enjoy, and instead of having to listen to one rapper beat his own style into my head song after song with almost no significant change, I got a group who can harmonize so vehemently well and create a whole new perspective on "hip-hop" or "gangsta rap" that it didn't really seem to fit into any genre, and was something that I could actually enjoy besides heavy metal or rock. Some of their songs I feel even elicit feelings of dread and creepiness like "East 1999" and "Crept and We Came" all due in part to the special vocals and beats used I guess. They're lyrics are thought out originally and I admire them for what they had to go through to even become a rap group. I can't say I enjoy other rappers half as much as Bone Thugs, because I don't! When I get tired of Chimaira or Children of Bodom or Tool, and want to hear some rap, I'll always throw on Bone because they are probably the only rap group I really like and are the best thing to happen to rap in a while. They will always be my favorite rappers, and they can't be Bone unless they are all together, because solo they aren't too great, especially Bizzy, because he is way better in Bone, but you can't have bone without ALL of them. I would love to get blazed with them someday, but know its not gonna happen, but I'll make sure to keep their greatness alive as long as I am. So...Bizzy, Wish, Layzie, Krayzie, and Flesh...keep the Bone rhythms alive and kickin'!

this song is about being on public assistance (ie. welfare) hence the name "first of the month", because that's when people get their welfare check and food stamps. it's a bloody horrible song and i can't believe anyone could think any different!!!!

I think ever since the first time I heard Down Foe My Thang, I've fallen in love with Bone Thugs. Every time I listen to any of their songs, they take me to back in the day and how much fun it was hearin their at-the-time new albums, just kickin back and smokin all day, gettin into trouble and makin the most of life...once you hear the first note of that familiar beat, that sound only Bone Thugs has, you already know what you're listening to! They're realer than real, and I have the utmost respect and admiration for a group that can stick it out through everything they've gone through! They know what it's like to be on the bottom of the food chain, and they know what it's like to be kings. Unfortunately, not all good things can last forever, but they'll always be the infamous Bone Thugs to me :) Krayzie, Layzie, Bizzy, Wish, & Flesh - keep it real
