"I have a feeling people are never really gonna know who I
am," Bob Schneider says.
Fair enough. And a 1500 word bio is rarely enough to convey
an artists' life and music anyway, but in Bob Schneider's
case it seems particularly tough. How do you package a tale
that bounces between Germany and Texas, and between opera,
art school and sleazy rock clubs? How do you convey the
roots of a genuine Austin phenomena; how he's led three of
the town's most popular bands and played to sold-out crowds
as many as four times a week for nearly a decade? How do
you explain him selling more than 15,000 self-released CD's
at just one Austin record store? How do you explain why one
of the country's most influential radio stations has had an
unsigned artist on its playlist for over More...

------ About artist/band Bob Schneider
I can still remember the first time watching him sing at the Broken Spoke on a first date and last date with some guy I don't remember his name. That next day, I drove to Waterloo Records & purchased every single CD they had i stock. I truly believe in passionately living my life 100% and Bob Schneider is obviously a very passionate person. Yeah, being numb can be cool but nothing can be comparable to creating a piece of art that derived of your own unique expression of your passion in life.

To try and put what Bob Schneider's music has meant to me into words is almost impossible... but I love a challenge. I recently played out for the first time in my life. Three out of the four songs I did were Bob Schneider tunes. Ocho, Horny Girls and Sugar King. The forth was a Jason Mraz tune. In fact is was Jason's recommendation of Bob that took me to Bob's web site in the first place. Bob's shows recorded right off the sound board on www.archive.org are a great asset. I now play at least 3 to 5 Bob tunes each and every day. As much as I'd love to have that Taylor NS32ce, I could only afford a used Fender GN45-Sce The specs are identical and it rocks. Bob Schneider is one of the greatest discoveries along my own personal musical journey.

A couple of months ago I heard Bob's "Bullets" on the radio in Indianapolis. It was the first I had ever heard of him and I pulled to the side of the road to write down the title and artist to look up later. I ended up downloading about 15 of his songs to my ipod and have been enjoying it ever since. A$$-knockin' reminds me so much of worn out boot-leg CD's I had of Sublime it's scary! Keep rockin and I look forward to hearing more of his stuff.

------ About artist/band Bob Schneider
I would teach the songs "Listen to the Water" "I am the Computer Man" and "When you Dream A Dream." These were my favourite songs... and my students also began to enjoy singing these songs. Now after 25 years... I'm trying to find these songs on cd's so that I can continue teaching these beautiful tunes. When I would have an art lesson and needed some "Quiet Time" I would put on... "When you Dream A Dream." Beautiful art work was created... and light delicate voices could be heard at the same time. It was a treat!
Can you help me find these songs?

------ About the song Capn Kirk performed by Bob Schneider
thanks for the lyrics... I think it is "I want to be the man on the ropes, be loved by everyone I know" in the cassius clay part
A friend of mine turned me onto Bob Schneider about 4 weeks ago and ever since I have been listening to his music daily. His writting is very simple yet, at the same time, very complex. Depending on your own life experience, Bob Schneiders lyrics can touch relevant places of life and have the ability to provoke thoughts yet are simple and melodic enough just to be enjoyed for the listening. I have turned all of my friends onto him as well as my children who range in age from 10-17, they all love him. I'm going to see his show in Chicago at the end of the month...thanks Bob, keep writting and playing!!
this song is so awesome. i love the guitar and bob's voice is just so awesome. its the first song i heard during SXSW in 2005, that got me hooked on the man. lotsa love
