Lyrics - Blonde Redhead Lyrics
| |
Singer/guitarist Kazu Makino is from Japan and twin
brothers Simone and Amedeo Pace (drummer/programmer and
singer/guitarist, respectively) are from Italy.
Their last album, Melody Of Certain Damaged Lemons came out
in 2000. Since then, the band has toured the globe, playing
shows with fellow rainmakers Unwound, Black Heart
Procession, Man or Astro-Man? and even toured with the Red
Hot Chili Peppers and Foo Fighters.
Later in 2000, the e.p., Melodie Citronique, was released
and features an entirely new song, a Serge Gainsbourg
cover, a Third Eye Foundation Remix and French and Italian
versions of songs from Melody.
The band has just completed an amazing new album for
release in early 2004, recorded by Ryan Hadlock, mixed by
John Goodmanson and produced by Gu More...

Life! | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Misery Is a Butterfly performed by Blonde Redhead
This song is life itself. It simply sums up what life has been, is and will be. Misery is the only reality. For me at least. Those who see that butterfly called misery, fall inevitably in love with her. For that reason, I am in love with this song.

------ About the song Pink Love performed by Blonde Redhead
This song is not only really well put together, it summarizes the whole album in a way. They have references to many other songs, like Misery is a Butterfly, Magic Mountain, Elephant Woman, & Falling Man. Personally, I think that this song should have been the last on the album instead of Equus.

------ About the song Misery Is a Butterfly performed by Blonde Redhead
This is really art, not many melodies are so graphic and explicit - the picture comes to your mind, just as easily as if you had seen it painted in front of you.
The lyrics are true poetry, specially around the end of the song, and it's just fog, solitude and possibly naked trees.

------ About the song Misery Is a Butterfly performed by Blonde Redhead
When I listen to this song.
I picture a young Kazu walking through a dark and vast expanse of desert.
You can almost hear her crying in the song.
The vocals and instruments come together perfectly and portray Kazu's true emotions.
It's a calming and moving song at that.
One who hasn't listened to this song, has missed out on something monumental.
When We Found Misery | Reviewer: Danielle Golfieri
------ About the song Misery Is a Butterfly performed by Blonde Redhead
This song, whose album's name is one and the same, holds that honor for a reason.
The music, as well as Kazu's voice, is haunting, the lyrics saddening, and the percussion is so perfectly timed and fluid. This song takes me places when I listen to it driving. I've had several mini epiphanies will listening to this song and thinking about the lyrics. There is also something femme about it, outside of the butterfly itself, some minute quality that makes me think of woman I've watched grow and change over the years. Per usual, Kazu's lyrics are more cryptic than Amedeo's, but I have my ideas...
At any rate, this song is just beautiful and I don't think anyone can help getting wrapped up in it. When I listen to it on the way to work, I cannot shut it off before it is over- I sit in my car and wait. So there you have it.
Blonde Redhead are Mine! | Reviewer: Danielle Golfieri
------ About the song Doll Is Mine performed by Blonde Redhead
I've had a love affair with just about every song on this album, per usual, with this band. My current single-minded obsession is with "Doll is Mine."
Amedeo's deliciously perfect whine delivers a special charm to this one, and I love the simple, light, chingy percussion that Simone provides.
I love to analyze this band's modest but poignant lyrics. What I get out of this song is a story of possession and denial, but in a romanticized way that I'm not offended by. I think this is one of the jewels of the album. Take a f-ing listen.

------ About the song Elephant Woman performed by Blonde Redhead
THis is excellent. Another route taken by BR- stylings in music taken to the classical, this is the template for others to follow.
Much creativity, brings the listener from style to style with different sounds.
