Blinded In Chains Lyrics
Performed by Avenged SevenfoldReview The Song (54)
And we're at it again, I turn around another fucking war, man,
I don't know where to begin, but I'll start with the radical leaders
Their steps we're followin'
Running, don't go back and fight, too many you'll lose
(And as clowns you follow suit behind the blood between the red and white and blue but it's too deep for you to see and
everyone eventually will take the step cause it's in sight you take the left I'll take the right I feel the hate you've built
for me and I say pay attention baby)
As they thank the Lord the blind can't see
Like a plague fed to the brain, deadly disease A-Whoa!
But it wasn't a sin, a sorry life judging every action
And as they're feeding your mind with this shit you forget
How to speak and ask all the questions.
A Business is at hand tonight, make the people choose
(I see another side in you but there's not much more I can do from on the outside looking in your government is listenin' to
push you on the story of immortal father mortal son give them your mind and all your wealth the cycle will rebirth itself)
If they had it their way I'd burn in Hell and your future's a fuckin' disaster can't you see?
Give them all the power when your future's in desperate trouble baby
As they thank the Lord the blind can't see
Like a plague fed to the brain, deadly disease
I'd run away tonight with my mind still intact I'm gonna make it alright
Easier said than done with no place to hide and having no place to
Running away from condition, I see but you're running away from
Your scared seductive system
Most would claim I live a lie (I live a lie)
When pointing out it's easy to predict these things (predict these things) Every color has its side, (I have a side!)
They live together vote and most embrace the same dark times.(Aaah-ahh) Please help us, please save us, of course they have control we're all the same.
Up on the cross, crucified their problem drove the nail and let Him rot
Family and friends, it won't matter in the end I'm sure they'll understand
Now look at the world and see how the humans bleed, as I sit up here and wonder 'bout and how you sold your mind body and soul!
Looking at the fields so green I know this sounds obscene
I see you're livin' for tomorrow but decisions you have made will leave you empty
As they thank the Lord the blind can't see
Like a plague fed to the brain, deadly disease
I'd run away tonight with my mind still intact I'm gonna make it alright
Easier said than done with no place to hide and having no place to
RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNN!!!!
(Bass Riff)
(Ahhhhhhhhhh!!)
You've fallen asleep in denial
Look at the way we're dyin' Whoa-whoa
How it ends I'll never know whooooa!
Just live your life blind like me!
(ahhhhh! Ahh ehhhh!)

Please just listen to the song. Music is a form of escape from reality, so why the fuck are you bringing politics into an escape from politics!? PLEASE, just listen to the music and enjoy it.
who cares of the political view in music? | Reviewer: Jakob VanValkenburg | 3/31/11
This is a great song, and people with a different political belief shouldn't dislike it for that reason. I'm Republican, but I like the song deify by disturbed and that song was an attack on George bush and people like him, and I like George bush. So yeah. If the song sounds good to you, then like it. Disliking it because of the different political view is just plain irrational.
What is your problem | Reviewer: Wolfgang | 3/30/11
I'm a huge fan of A7X, but everything I've seen here is about the politics. Forget the politics for now. The song is incredible. It sounds awesome and **** anyone who tries a cover because it just won't sound right.
Note: I understand if you disagree with their view, but who cares? Listen to it for entertainment. Listen to it if you agree. Don't listen to it at all. They're just putting their ideas out there, just like everybody else and I admire them for being so up-front about it. Now shut up and listen.
Everyone shut up | Reviewer: don't give two shits about politics | 12/8/10
Yeah avenged sevenfold is republican. And I lean more to the left then to the right on social issues, like gay rights and seperation of church and state, while i'm fiscally conservative. but who really gives a shit? Shadows could write "I eat babies and fuck unicorns and bathe in donkey shit" and make it sound good. So everyone keep your stupid political agendas out of music. Please, it just wrecks it, and noone respects you more because your projecting your ideals on us.
Meaning from M. Shadows | Reviewer: Simon | 11/24/10
This is directly from an interview with M. Shadows:
AVENGED SEVENFOLD wants to warn liberals about something. The metal band's song "Blinded In Chains", which begins with the line "And we're at it again — I turn around another -- war, man," has absolutely nothing to do with the war in Iraq. Or any other war involving guns and bombs. "If I read it, I'd probably get that interpretation, too. I could probably have done a better job," says singer and lyricist M. Shadows, sheepishly. "I've definitely looked at that song and seen where people are coming from."
In fact, "Blinded In Chains" is about the philosophical war between Republicans and Democrats. The former are excessively closed-minded, says Shadows, 24, and the latter are "a bunch of -- idiots where everyone looks at Michael Moore and does what he says." If from that statement you can't glean the band's politics, consider that AVENGED SEVENFOLD sells American-flag T-shirts proclaiming, "Love It Or Die".
"Most people know we're kind of one of the only bands around right now that will admit that we're Republican," says Shadows, who performs at Saturday's Ozzfest on Randall's Island. "When we went on the [punk-rock] Warped Tour last year — all of those bands, they're not only anti-war, they're anti-everything our country stands for. We were like, ' -- this.' We're going to wear our America shirts.
"Kids would eat it up. They loved it," adds Shadows, born Matt Sanders. He acknowledges he's not especially pro-war. "Ninety percent of those bands are talking -- about [President] Bush to 16-year-old kids who can't vote and are just ranting because it's the cool thing to do. It's one of those things where we went out there and did the complete opposite."
so here it is straight from the horses mouth, They hate the progressive movement raises the entitlement minded cattle in america today, they are trying to educate on the truth, unlike almost every other band out there. The progressives are on both sides, DEm and Rep, we need to get rid of them. Restore our rights and our liberty, stop stealing money from those earning to give handouts to those not.
all you idiots are wrong | Reviewer: joseph perri | 10/20/10
this song is about a memory of a man who had brutal suicidal thoughts and then they came true and the guy hung himself choked himslef to death and hung himself a wall and the police found him dead thats where got the name blinded in chains becuse hung himself to the wall with a chain and a rope. i love avenged sevenfold they are awesome and this is one of my favorite songs them.
Amazing | Reviewer: Amber | 9/23/10
I found something new when i heard this song, my inner rocker was peacefully dulling the senses with paramoe etc. When i found this i fell in love. It's everything i need to escape to my own little world in my head.
Pff... | Reviewer: LyricsMazzzter | 8/30/10
This song has a message as ALL songs have, but sometimes people might not understand it. If you asked me, I'd say it's about the blindness of people when they are bought by the propaganda and so... It's kind of a negative view of how people preffers to be like others instead of being themselves... I like this song, but it's message is quite sad :B
Shut up!!! | Reviewer: Warren Woolfolks is why | 7/9/10
This is exactly why some songs sound like jibberish when some people write songs. They don't want people overanalyzing what they are saying. Just enjoy the song for what it is, not it's message. I'm pretty sure if not for the artist and it was just the lyrics, you probably wouldn't have looked for what the words are anyway. Just let the melody of the song take over, and stop trying to make a political statement of anarchy out of every band!!!
Bananas | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/6/10
Who seriously gives a shit about what you think these lyrics mean? Unless is comes straight from the horses mouth(A7X's mouth), I don't give a fuck. For all you know, Matt, with his astounding lyrical genius, could have thought "Hmmm, I'm going to make this song a metaphor for bananas, and these people will think its about Obama or some other political bullshit." You can misinterpret lyrics all you want, but this site is for reading lyrics, discovering new-found love for artists, and collaborating with fellow fans, not bashing on people that have a different perspective than you. And this song is an epitome of what A7X stands for, but hey, every song by Aveneged is an epitome of what they stand for. R.I.P. Jimmy. A7X4LIFETILIDIE.
amazing song, hands down. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/22/10
this is one of Avenged's best songs they've ever made, i think. the instruments are just flat out sweet & Shads' vocals are ten times better than other City of Evil songs, just saying. in simpler terms, this is my favorite song. <3

"Now look at the world and see how the humans bleed, as I sit up here and wonder 'bout and how
you sold your MIND BODY AND SOUL!"
that last line will tell you what this songs about if you're well versed in the language verbiage of ...
There's usually three layers to movies, lyrics books and you all seem to have gotten the second layer but why stop there, when there's so much more to understand and interpret...
corrupt politicians and carl h dude is a dumb ass | Reviewer: right wing libertarian | 1/30/10
first republicans support the troops more than ANY democrat. second the liberal assh***s are trying to turn us socialist which turns into communism which if you know anything about history is bad and does not work. and this song is mostly about the corrupt politicians who are destroying this country, which are the liberal democrats. just take a step outside your own ignorence and listen to what obama says and look at how the corrupt dems ruined NJ.
Critical acclaim | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/23/10
The song critical acclaim is about the seperation of government and church, but also about how the governments fucks up everything. The government is so worried about telling other people what to do and how to fight wars that they forget that they need the most help.
*sigh* | Reviewer: i dont care | 7/25/09
Critical Acclaim isn't even about war. Despite the first verse, it's about the corruptions and lies that make up our government. Besides, they let Gunslinger be the "war song" for that album :D
maybe you should take another listen through while looking at the lyrics
