Review about Beware The Water Amazing | Reviewer: Alex | 1/31/09 It's amazing to me how i could actually say that this is my 'favorite band' and thats because i've heard alot of songs from alot of different bands, and i can honestly say, this band is AMAZING. Really, this song sparked my real love for deftones. it's absolutely incredible to me for some reason (maybe it's the beginning and the chorus?) but after hearing this song, all of their songs just sound even better than before. I had the great pleasure of asking Chi (Bassist) what his favorite song to play live was and he thought about it for about 10 seconds and told me "Beware" He said "Because it has a little of everything we do". I thought it was a great answer. I love this song- like I said the whole albulm is sweet, and the next song Cherry Waves is now my all time favorite. Hard to think I like it more then Knife Party, but wow, what a song.. This band has gotten so good, the've been my favorite since 95 but now, these guys, are untouchable. Chino's melodic, mysterious, and clear voice sets off deep emotions. This is a song you can close your eyes to and imagine the dangerous side of the eerie element of water (the drums especially help express that). The chorus of the song is definitely my favorite part, but I adore the whole song. The thing about this song as well as kimdracula, is that it has the same voice in different places. For example, when you hear Beware, there's parts like this.. "do you like the way the water tastes (like gunfire) for you but you could never say (then come forth) cuz its coming round round (the water)" The parts in parentheses continue the sentence but are said as if they are different topics and almost as if the vocalist's doppelganger had said those words behind you, but when you turn, they're gone. It's kind of hard for me to explain, but I hope you are able to see a little bit on how my imagination works. Anyway, I love this song.
