------ About the song Brick performed by Ben Folds

My ex (current at the time) had an abortion 17 years ago. It was the saddest, hardest thing we went through. No one gets an abortion "for fun."
Years later, when I first heard this song, I broke down. Hearing it again today, makes me break down again.
I didn't need to ask or look up the meanings, it spoke to me immediately.
Pacing around the parking lot, buying flowers, feeling alone.
If you're a man or woman and you love(d) the woman who went through having an abortion, it touches you equally, and it stays with you for life, especially if you don't have children of your own.

------ About the song There's Always Someone Cooler Than You performed by Ben Folds

I think this song is about how even though we all treat eachother like shit, there is still someone cooler. I might be cooler than you, but you're cooler than someone else and there is another person cooler than me. Its about how we're all connected. Its like a social food chain. There will always be someone cooler than someone.

------ About the song Brick performed by Ben Folds

I had an abortion when I was 26 for a million reasons. Right or not. Do I regret it? I can't say. I did the best I could at the time. 26 years later my 17 year old daughter made the same choice for her own reasons. You can damn us to hell or say we can't truly believe in God if we made this decisions but we are believers. Sin is sin we are all guilty of it. If any one of you that sit in judgement are free of sin you alone can cast the first stone. This is ours to carry everyday for the rest of our lives. I understand this song in a way no one else can unless you have lived it. Judge me I don't care. But know this, there is always a consequence. Abortion doesn't get rid of the consequence it just changes it. This will ache in my heart until the day I face God and make it right. Until then I am grateful that the God I know is a loving, merciful, grace filled God who suffers my pain with me and longs to make me whole.I asked for forgiveness. God granted it. If you don't agree I don't care.

------ About the song Brick performed by Ben Folds

Prolifers end most of their arguments by declaring prochoicers to be baby killers. Not easy to overcome that stigma. A lot of pro life people just do what the church they were born into tells them to do. I don't like killing babies. Well, I haven't done it, but it doesn't appeal to me. From what I hear, abortions are also miserable experiences. The truth is, none of us can really know what we'd do when confronted by that situation until we are confronted by that situation. Because of this, I believe that mothers-to-be should be given a choice.

------ About the song Brick performed by Ben Folds

I have an amazing thought, an American idea, a what would seem to be a basic Christian value all wrapped in one idea based on the following: the song is about abortion. It's a great, powerful, and moving song - certainly for anyone who's ever had a similar experience.

Are you ready for the idea? Here it is: mind your own business and keep your self-righteous judgement to yourself. Enjoy the song or don't, but do not assume you or anyone else has tue right or place to judge others decisions - especially if you've never been down that road. Otherwise, you're talking out your backside.

It's a big idea, but it does encompass personal choice and compassion for others. WOW, big concepts!

------ About the song There's Always Someone Cooler Than You performed by Ben Folds

The message here is to say what you want before it's too late. Let the people that try to hurt you know it's not ok. Living one day in misery is just not worth it! It's also about love for me. If you don't express how you feel, nobody will ever know!
