This song moves me every time. It captures everything I couldn't express or explain, and also gives some perspective on a mans point of view...especially the emphasis on time would tell she would not be fine--so TRUE. You won't be fine..initially, you will become ok..

this same thing happened to me and my hs sweetheart. we were discussing getting an abortion and he really didnt want to get it. i told him that it was my decision and this was the only way out... i ended up having a miscarriage, but the hole can never be filled.. and a patch will simply fall off. im the brick and we both drowned... i dont think God will ever give me a child again.

------ About the song Brick performed by Ben Folds
It's funny to see someone make a statement like this:
"hmm, i find it interesting how the catholic church condemned a girl who, at 9 years of age, got pregnant of being raped. now pregnant with twins, she would most likely die if she gave birth. the rapist was forgiven, and she and her mother excommunicated when she had an abortion to save her life."
And then end their post with this:
" "pro-life" is anti-choice, and anti-woman. "
So you list 1 example of stupidity and then bag out an entire philosophy based on that one point? As if all pro-life people agree with that. I don't think that you're stupid enough to actually believe that's true, but you are, apparently, not smart enough to mount a cohesive argument on the subject. Which makes sense because you only see one side of an issue, which makes things much harder to judge. Ugh I just wanted to see the lyrics to a good song and I get this crap!
I see the arguments for both sides, but the only arguments for abortion that really hold water so to speak, for me, are ones of necessity, which are an EXTREMELY small percentage of abortions. Where human life begins is hard to figure out sometimes, but how can someone nitpick when, if you're wrong, you're killing millions of babies, that otherwise would be real living people right this very second, in the name of convenience.

------ About the song The Luckiest performed by Ben Folds
My son sang this song while acompanied by piano to his senior class at the end of a long night of awards. Wasn't a dry eye in the house. Still brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. God bless you, Ben Folds...

i find it beautiful, and peace of heart whenever i listen to it. I sent this song to my bf telling how lucky i feel having him by myside. he is the one who helped me to open my heart once again after all the hurt and pains i got from previous relationships.

honestly, i didn't know that this is a song about abortion. someone from my past just introduced this song to me when we were still a happy couple and from that moment, i instantly fell in love with it. and i am so amazed how the writer of this song was able to put into words and melody a sad feeling or traumatic experience he once felt...

You people call yourselfs prolife. What about the teens who have to go through all this? Do you even know how common a young mother's death in a miscarrige is? It's not fair to even think about forcing anyone to withstand a whole pregnancy. I mean, I can see maybe wanting to if the woman is a WOMAN and didn't use protection. That's...like....birth manslaughter. But there's such a thing as going too far.

A pleasantly sad song at the sound. Nearly depressing, but in an odd sense it has an upside. If I were to rate it, indeed I would give a nine of ten. Quite nice. A soft, easy-to-understand set of lyrics with beautiful piano and vocals to go along with it.

I love Ben Folds! This is one of my favorite songs on one of his best albums. Ben said this song is about a friend. He married a drama queen who, when Ben called him, would not tell him Ben called.
Bye Bye goodbye!

The song is sad because it talks about the interruption of someones life, a decision that won't ever be repair... i'm pro-life and i believe everyone has the right to live, to feel, to laugh, even to cry and learn from life experiences, everyone has the right to love and to be love... because of the grace and love of God we have life and liberty... le'ts don't use our liberty to terminate life

My wife and I were married in September last year. We have four kids three of which are triplets. Seeing my 4 year old boy, 2 year old boy and 2 year old girls walk down the isle with my beautiful girlfriend was a moment in time I will never forget. Having Ben Folds playing in the background was the perfect touch. Now whenever I hear the song I have that image in my head and as you could imagine it brings a smile on my face. I feel like the luckiest.
Thanks mate great song!!!!

I love Ben Folds and I LOVE THIS SONG! I discovered his daughter and I had the same name and the song is just so sweet, so it's one of my favourite songs of his.
It makes me cry. Tomorrow night some friends are playing it at a gig and dedicating it to me. I may be in tears!
Thanks for the lyrics.

------ About the song Brick performed by Ben Folds
Look, I understand exactly what Ben Folds was going for here. Am I pro choice? Of course I'm not! But give him a break. He wasn't writing the song to encourage people to do it. He didn't want to start a big political debate. He was "young and didn't know any better" his words exactly.
The point of this song is that it sucked to go through. It was the worst time in his whole life. A majority of the best songs ever written are so good because they were an emotional event for the writer!
Do you think he wanted his girlfriend to get an abortion? Of course not!
