Before The Dawn Lyrics - Evanescence

Review The Song (30)

Meet me after dark again and I'll hold you
I want nothing more than to see you there
And maybe tonight, we'll fly so far away
We'll be lost before the dawn

If only night could hold you, where I can see you, my love
Then let me never ever wake again
And maybe tonight, we'll fly so far away
We'll be lost before the dawn

Somehow I know that we can't wake again from this dream
It's not real, but it's ours

Maybe tonight, we'll fly so far away
We'll be lost before the dawn

Maybe tonight, we'll fly so far away
We'll be lost before the dawn

Lee Vocal Range | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/12/10

Just wanted to say that I'm a big fan of Amy Lee's but wanted to point out to the first reviewer that in order for Amy Lee to have a vocal range of 8 octaves it would mean that she could sing beyond what a piano keyboard techincally offers and it's a proven fact that not even the deepest voice can naturally reach the last note on the keyboard or the highest voice to reach the highest note on the keyboard (not even Mariah Carey has an eight or even a five octave vocal range - hers is only 4 and one note)

Not saying she doesn't have an amazing voice, cause she does, but just wanted to set the record straight - in all of her songs I've only ever heard her sing within a 2 octave range.

mad but happy :( - :) | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/7/09

amazing | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/26/09

i only just heard this song yesterday and already I am in love with it. I can't see how people can't enjoy music like this. Amy Lee is a very talented singer and songwriter and pianist and does it really matter if someone classes this music as emo music? Whatever they class it, if they like it so what? And for the people who don't like Evanescence, well they are just missing out on a great lot of inspiring music. I can't wait for the next album to be released and i hope at some point they make a trip over to nz!!!

absolutely brilliant | Reviewer: tammy | 4/25/09

AMY LEE you are awesome. your songs are brilliant. your voice is fantastic. i wait in anticipation for new ones. i know before the dawn is an old song but it holds stead with one of my favorite songs.

Cool. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/5/09

I love this song, and I cant believe how people can call this band emo!! this song is one of my faves, and i think all the albums were good, it just depends on which area (soft rock, gothic ect..) you like, and i agree Amy Lee's Voice is Really nice.

Evanescence Rules!!

Amazing | Reviewer: Jessica | 3/21/09

I love Evanescence so much, Amy has an amazing voice, and is so creative. (oh, and we can't forget BEAUTIFUL.)

There's not one song by them i don't like, (except for Goodnight.) The songs are so easy to relate to and so beautiful. My favorite album is The Open Door, althought Fallen, Origin and each of the EPs were all so amazing, along with the unreleased songs (like Before the Dawn).

And to everyone who says they're emo, your idiots, they a mix of everything.. soft rock, alternative metal, rock, opera, Electronic, some goth, but NOT emo.
And to the guy who said Lacrymosa was crappy and hard to understand, its not. the meaning of the song is very clear, and it's a beautiful mix of metal, rock, opera, electronica, and it's AWESOME

(/Rant over)

Love the song and band equally | Reviewer: Yoselyn | 2/15/09

I love Evanescence, and it's really funny how I got into them! My ex-boyfriend had the biggest crush on Amy Lee, and I loathed her for that, and then I decided to give her a chance, and I instantly became obsessed with her powerful voice and immense inner/outer beauty. I find it incredibly hard not to like any Evanescence song, all of them are awesome, I just happen to like this one more then most. =)

Dedication | Reviewer: Furbawl | 11/22/08

for one, next person to call evanescence an emo band, just so you know, i will hunt you down, rip off your ears, and feed them to you. all the while screaming "HOWS THIS FOR EMO? YOU BUGGERING PORTWENCH!!"

for my next point, i agree, this is one of the deepest songs amy lee has ever performed. which is saying something considering ALL of her songs hold an individual message. Like most others on this post i find the best line is "it's not real but its ours."

and, as a personal confession, ive dedicated this song to the love of my life. im young and i know she wont be here forever, but i believe ill never forget her. no matter how much bad we put eachother through, ill always love her.

Evanescence in general | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/13/08

I have to disagree with Daniel......... I have 4 Evanescence albums - 'Origin', 'Not For Your Ears', 'Fallen' and 'The Open Door' ......... Fallen was and still is an incredible album, The Open Door for me is their most powerful album yet, it's darker than Fallen, the quality of the songs is better (there were a couple on Fallen I wasn't as keen on but I love every track on Open Door)

They are absolutely not an 'Emo' band, to be honest I wouldn't stick them with a specific genre as they are very adaptable in their style

Evanescence rule!

DUH!!! | Reviewer: BLC | 11/10/08

For those of you who don't know you're music history, "Lacrymosa" is originally a part of the "Mass of Requiem" [MASS OF THE DEAD is self-explanatory]- The very long composition which Mozart died during; the debate is that he died after the writing the first 8 bars, 15 bars, or died before the last little section of the piece; if you listen to that piece, you can hear the choir actually singing the original piece; it's a beautiful piece that you just don't want to attempt to understand because you're lazy.
