Formed in 1961, by 3 brothers(Brian,Dennis, and Carl
Wilson) , a cousin(Mike Love), and a good friend(Al
Jardine), this band became known as the Beach Boys. Their
first hit, was "Surfin'". Dennis came home and told his
banded family and friend (they had already formed, but they
didn't have any records, singles, or anything out, just had
the whole "band" idea and all down) that they should write
a song about surfing.
Well, they did. Mike sang lead, Brian drummed (Dennis
couldn't drum yet), Carl played guitar, and Al played a
double bass. That started it all. After that, they went on
to have hits such as, "Surfin' USA","Help Me, Rhonda","I
Get Around", "Fun,Fun,Fun,", etc. Bruce Johnston took
Brian's place in touring in '65, so Brian could concentrate

------ About the song Sumahama performed by Beach Boys
Good song from a good album. The song is from the album "L.A. (Light Album)", released in 1979. I had it on cassette in the eighties but must have lost it. I downloaded it from Amazon two days ago, where it was paired with their album of the preceding year "M.I.U. Album". Hope that answers the questions, albeit a couple of years after they were asked.
What a great classic, words, the melody,a great arrangement,no wonder its Paul McCartney,s favourite song,I cant help but think it influenced some of Sgt Pepper ?you can see, hear the Influence Brian had on the Beatles, Kevin Molloy, Dublin, Ireland.

------ About the song Trader performed by Beach Boys
What a great piece of modern music! Actually it tends to be one of those compositions that seem to defy classification. While it may be based in the rock genre, it could easily be converted to most any other, but who would want to. Listening to the lyrics most would tend to agree that its theme remains relevent to any place in history. All of the politics aside it is still a great composition!

------ About the song Don't Worry Baby performed by Beach Boys
When I was in 6th grade my math teacher played the Beach Boys for us one day in math. I loved them so much I went out and got a tape Endless Summer. Little did I know my mother had this as a 33. Needles to say this is my mother's favorite song and my mother's too. She told me that Don't Worry Baby was the b-side to Help Me Rhonda when she had the 45. This song is very sweet. I barely understood the words but wow the lyrics are very special. I now have Endless Summer on my iPod and never really listened to the guitar. The guitar tracks make these songs worth listening to. This is one truly special song.

------ About the song Darlin' performed by Beach Boys
That really shocked me; because this song couldn't be about another male. Just doesn't make sense..so I googled. Although it's only Wikipedia, the article about the song "Darlin" said,
"After the song had been re-written as "Darlin'", Brian was planning to give the song to a band called Redwood (later to be known as Three Dog Night) as Danny Hutton was a friend of Brian's around that time, but the other Beach Boys members insisted that they should record the song."

------ About the song 'Til I Die performed by Beach Boys
Probably one the finest examples of classic Beach Boys harmony. This song moves the soul from within. Brian may have been fighting his personal demons when he wrote this song, but in the broader sense, these lyrics apply to each and everyone of us.
Charly was just following Syd Barret and Loving spoonful | Reviewer: werner lazlo
------ About the song Never Learn Not To Love performed by Beach Boys
Altough the song is kind of strange, is very meaningful, bit close to Syd Barret, but if we read between the lines, we may even come to John Sebastian (Lovinspoolful) "Darling be home sonn":"beat your crazy head against the sky, see beyond the houses of your eyes...its OK to shoot the moon". It is about irreversible change, so is Roger Waters, David Gilmor, the Pink, and Zeppelin. Still lyrics may mean nothing but "mambo jambo". Read the analysis called "The shadow of Santa Susana", about the song. To me is a bautiful song in spite to the fact that Charly manson was totally nuts and absolutely dangerous
better than pet sounds! | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the album Holland performed by Beach Boys
pet sounds is good, it even contains some of my fave bb tracks but for overall mastery and completeness of sound and theme, Holland is the best. Yes, it may have the odd hippy drippy lyric but at least it's heart is in the right place and it is one of the few bb albums where all the band make a full and great contribution to the writing of the songs and to its production. They forced Brian to up the ante! Leaving This Town is one of the outstanding tracks: a heart rending ballad that really gets to you; Funky Pretty is magical; Sail On Sailor is a brilliant track from Brian who wrote it when faced with the good sounds the band were creating in the studio and what a fantastic come-back it is. There is nothing else like this album in their repertoire. It is a must for all fans of the band's 'late period'.

------ About the song Disney Girls performed by Beach Boys
Simply beautiful, heard the Boys sing it in 1980 and just 2 weeks ago in Tulsa. I know Bruce won a grammy for I Write The Songs, but he also should have for Disney Girls, too ,a simply stunning song. And previous reviewer Freddie, it was Bruce, not Brian!

------ About the song Sloop John B performed by Beach Boys
I was about 14 in 1974, attending a residential course in Ogmore, Bridgend, S. Wales for the Mid-Glamorgan Youth Choir; one dinner-time we were called into the hall to sing for one of the dinnerladies whose birthday was that day. Someone started singing "Sloop John B," I'd never heard it before, but the mix of voices, in a million layers, made it sound fantastic. I've never heard it sung so well as on that day! Would pay to sing in that choir again.

------ About the song Feel Flows performed by Beach Boys
This way-overlooked "song" was a brain-boggling gem when I first heard it in LA in 1972. "Surfs Up" was a cutout (remaindered) album even then. wow. And the only reason I listened was because of the cool album artwork! What luck! I still have the album i bought for .99. Any dead head should listen to "Feel Flows" "Till I die" and "Surf's Up" (before the tidal wave) and get truly tubed.

Diane from Newport Beach | Reviewer: Jeff
------ About the song California Girls performed by Beach Boys
I never fully appreciated what this song was saying until I met and fell hard for Diane from Newport Beach. She was 18 and I was 21, and I met her in Florida in the Summer of '77...to this day, it was the greatest summer of my life. Sadly, we never married, but when we were together for the summer, she made feel like a king. I'll never understand why she chose me, but she was my California Girl...the Queen of my dreams.
...could write great songs about anything. | Reviewer: Jeff
------ About artist/band Beach Boys
About 20 years ago, a friend and I were listening to the BBs, and he commented that they could write and perform great songs about anything, and make it sound fantastic. How right my friend still is.
Later when living in Florida, I went into a nautically themed store, and I noticed that finally someone wasn't playing worn out Jimmy Buffett music, but instead, was playing Beach Boys' music. Although Buffett is good, he doesn't come close to the greatness of the Beach Boys.
I have never, ever felt bad when I was listening to the Beach Boys...reminds me of the days of my youth in the 60s when I lived in California, and my biggest worry was how I was going to get to the beach.
My personal favourite! | Reviewer: Robert
------ About the song Wouldn't It Be Nice performed by Beach Boys
One of my favourite movies is "Shampoo", and 'Wouldn't It Be Nice' is the soundtrack. It always rings in my head when I think of the Beach Boys, right up there with 'Don't Worry Baby', 'Good Vibrations', and all the tracks from 'Pet Sounds'.
Thank you for the lyrics. The version I know was recorded by the 7th Army Soldiers Chorus in 1963 (not comercially available) and penned by James Blaine who was one of the original Lettermen (along with Connie Stevens) before they both left to pursue other careers. The Chorus recording is almost identical to the Lettermen recording. I have Blaine's original manuscript for the melody and chord symbols. A great piece and a great arrangement. The Lettermen version does not have the multiple chord progressions that I feel get in the way of the song.

------ About the song Kokomo performed by Beach Boys
i really love the song...it really nice to listen this while your in the beach, even do i don't know the place, and i've never been there. the bit is catchy that you would love to sing along with it...all my friends here in the Philippines when were in the beach we keep on singing with this...on the videoke...
These are powerful and poigniant lyrics. I suspect many people simply listen to the melody and write the song off as another cheery or light weight Beach Boys pop tune. "In My Room" is another deceptive example.
