Bachelorette Lyrics - Bjork
Review The Song (5)
I'm a fountain of blood
In the shape of a girl
You're the bird on the brim
Hypnotised by the Whirl
Drink me, make me feel real
Wet your beak in the stream
Game we're playing is life
Love is a two way dream
Leave me now, return tonight
Tide will show you sweet bliss
If you forget my name
You will go astray
Like a killer whale
Trapped in a bay
I'm a path of cinders
Burning under your feet
You're the one who walks me
I'm your one way street
I'm a whisper in water
Secret for you to hear
You are the one who grows distant
When I beckon you near
Leave me now, return tonight
The tide will show you the way
If you forget my name
You will go astray
Like a killer whale
Trapped in a bay
I'm a tree that grows hearts
One for each that you take
You're the intruders hand
I'm the branch that you break
Hum-yeah!
In the shape of a girl
You're the bird on the brim
Hypnotised by the Whirl
Drink me, make me feel real
Wet your beak in the stream
Game we're playing is life
Love is a two way dream
Leave me now, return tonight
Tide will show you sweet bliss
If you forget my name
You will go astray
Like a killer whale
Trapped in a bay
I'm a path of cinders
Burning under your feet
You're the one who walks me
I'm your one way street
I'm a whisper in water
Secret for you to hear
You are the one who grows distant
When I beckon you near
Leave me now, return tonight
The tide will show you the way
If you forget my name
You will go astray
Like a killer whale
Trapped in a bay
I'm a tree that grows hearts
One for each that you take
You're the intruders hand
I'm the branch that you break
Hum-yeah!

video meaning | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/29/09
I think the meaning of the video is just being an artist and having to go with what you have as your story and having to make yourself transparent for the world.
Songs are usually, more often than not, inspired by personal life events of artists in one way or the other. And for anyone, as a person who is not only an artists but also exists in real life, it is a struggle whether or not to publicize each particular piece. Because even though she decided for it, Bjork was probably actually worried about this man in her real life, and whether or not he will read into it.
Does this make any sense? That's just how I take it. But I might be full of it.

i am desperate to know what the hell the video means. It just seems so random and having nothing to do with the lyrics.
Is it about how love is addictive? More like a love hate relationship? It's here today, gone tomorrow? But then, what the heck do those trees mean? And a forest lady finding a big book buried deep in the ground?

This song is so poetic. And I've been in a situation like this... a man who withdraws, yet takes- and hurts, perhaps without meaning to. And you feel emotionally drawn and spiritually inclined. A tree that grows hearts- yes. Empowered. No matter how you break my heart... Hm.
Her accent enhances everything she does, it's so pure and natural- And the tune of this song, as usual, is absolutely... ellegant and so rhythmic like most of Bjork's work. It's powerful with the orchestra and everything... I like the live version from Cambridge. That's my favorite. ^^ I first heard it on SNL- my mother wouldn't let me listen to it. How silly. ^^
I remember closed captioning said that the lyric was "I'm a phantom of light"- I'm sort of shocked that it was wrong, but it just... wow.

got to be one of my favs, so emotional and beautiful yet scary and unpradictable. i like th line, 'your the branch that you brake' so purty. :)
