Babylon system Lyrics - Bob Marley

Review The Song (17)

We refuse to be
What you wanted us to be;
We are what we are:
That's the way (way) it's going to be. If you don't know!
You can't educate I
For no equal opportunity:
(Talkin' 'bout my freedom) Talkin' 'bout my freedom,
People freedom (freedom) and liberty!
Yeah, we've been trodding on the winepress much too long:
Rebel, rebel!
Yes, we've been trodding on the winepress much too long:
Rebel, rebel!

Babylon system is the vampire, yea! (vampire)
Suckin' the children day by day, yeah!
Me say: de Babylon system is the vampire, falling empire,
Suckin' the blood of the sufferers, yea-ea-ea-ea-e-ah!
Building church and university, wo-o-ooh, yeah! -
Deceiving the people continually, yea-ea!
Me say them graduatin' thieves and murderers;
Look out now: they suckin' the blood of the sufferers (sufferers).
Yea-ea-ea! (sufferers)

Tell the children the truth;
Tell the children the truth;
Tell the children the truth right now!
Come on and tell the children the truth;
Tell the children the truth;
Tell the children the truth;
Tell the children the truth;
Come on and tell the children the truth.

'Cause - 'cause we've been trodding on ya winepress much too long:
Rebel, rebel!
And we've been taken for granted much too long:
Rebel, rebel now!

(Trodding on the winepress) Trodding on the winepress (rebel):
got to rebel, y'all (rebel)!
We've been trodding on the winepress much too long - ye-e-ah! (rebel)
Yea-e-ah! (rebel) Yeah! Yeah!

From the very day we left the shores (trodding on the winepress)
Of our Father's land (rebel),
We've been trampled on (rebel),
Oh now! (we've been oppressed, yeah!) Lord, Lord, go to ...

[*Sleeve notes continue:
Now we know everything we got to rebel
Somebody got to pay for the work
We've done, rebel.]

Falling empire | Reviewer: Ras Dako | 3/18/13

Bob was given wisdom to see da world happenings though i really don't understand why many pple say he was illuminati member.da msge say for its'elf.falling empire meaning da whole world as it is.why?coz even b4 then nt only in Africa did da war rage bt in EU too.and all coz of thieves and murderers being educated whch led to poverty and create war at the end of day.and only poverty cn lead to unrest where society try to be equal bt an educated thieve wil make sure u are even poorer b4 u realise it.thanx if u understand my perspective.WE WIL love u Robert Nesta

Loss but Not Lost | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/15/13

32 years after Bob marley's death, still feel the same tragic loss of such a beautiful being who gave his music to us all. This music will never be lost however, and the message it gave.
Blessings to him in heaven.

i wished more was revealed | Reviewer: Awake and Ready | 3/3/13

The song describes the forces of darkness and their old system that Babylonian system which they gave a new polish and called it the New World Order. its all about shaping the path of society to make it look more like a pyramid instead of the straight path which means equality for all.
Unfortunately they are almost successful in reaching their Goal, Unfortunately we are too torn apart to think about rebellion. they used tools like Individualism, Nationalism, mysticism, Anthropomorphism to completely destroy any religion that calls for a straight path, the fabric of society is so torn because the connections are lost and the social contracts that create families were severely attacked.

True soldier 2 | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/28/11

Sorry might I add to my comment above after this song was released it was banned from radio and all human listening because of what this song actually means, politicians where threatened by bob himself because he was trying to reveal the illuminati and there plan for new world order. In 1990's every country got a new symbol in the back ground of their coat of arms this rybon/symbol simply means the queen of England and many other world leaders desire a better country.

A true soldier | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/28/11

Bob is my hero I love his lyrics and he makes me^ feel so alive. It is tragic that he was killed by the government with angel dust rigged in his air ducts to kill him off with cancer a common known disease in most of the humans living today. All my friend tried to do was let the people know and become aware of the governments sneaky and engenious plan to take over the world" the new world order" . Thank you bruthrin I loved this track and am very aware thank you for spilling the secrets I wish others would see too... Salute soldier

Great Song! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/20/11

Another great song from Bob. He knew how the system works. A man like him so in touch with Jah, Jehovah the true God and his scriptures could write something like that. He is not only talking about the African people. Once people wake up they will truly understand.

Greatest songwriter | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/14/10

He was the greatest songwriter, visionary poet and a generations spokesman for peace and equality. He was a true leader and phrophet - one who was pure of heart and fearless, selfless, and committed to the greater good. His words continue to open minds and hearts.

rebel | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/7/10

Economical interests of the ones who accumulate capital across the whole world are rulling politics and are telling us who to be, how to be, and what to do. No thing in Human is natural, less so is the way people are tought to live in the western society. It doesnt have to be like it is right now, it MUST NOT be the way economical empowered leaders tell us that it is. "open up your mind, and let some knowledge come in, crack open your cranium and let awarness begin". REBEL.

Freedom | Reviewer: Joyce | 5/28/10

This is the ultimate freedom song. Freedom of choice, freedom of expression, freedom of speech, freedom of the mind and soul. It has certainly freed me of a lot of the evils of the babylon system(the west). I quote Bob Marley: God gave us people to love and things to use, where the hell does babylon get it to use people and love things? We have to REBEL!

island vs. mainland | Reviewer: julie | 2/4/10

i interpret this song through social evolution. european culture has oppressed africans and splintered them so they would not stand united, and ultimately fulfill the prophecy that as it was in the beginning so shall it come to be - I&I together as one (which maybe you could interpret biologically, which is just that humans produce fittest genetic variations in offspring when they "raise far I", in other words when they choose a mate who is able to sustain in geological region diff. than your own to prepare next youth for the changing weather patterns of future) shores of or father's land we been trampled on" "babylon.. vampires suck the children day by day" babylon the mainland that keeps the children from the truth of eventual oneness and subjegates their brethren competition to islands where I cannot spread to full potential. but it is just time, not question of if - as it was so shall it be, it's a teaching it's a truth

Free your minds | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/1/09

How do we rebel? First you have to wake up.

As Marley sang it: "Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery; None but ourselves can free our minds"

Smoking pot and eating shrooms will help open up your mind and expand your consciousness, and help to free you from the mental conditioning of Babylon. Don't believe the BS anti-drug propaganda you've been force-fed your whole life. If you use the plants with respect and good intentions, they will treat you right. Wake up and be free.

IMF in Jamaica | Reviewer: nick 501 | 12/4/08

For me this song represents the right wing economic policies of the IMF. In the 1970's this organization single handily destabilized the Jamaican government and economy. It was called neo-liberalism in the west, but in Jamaica it was simply known as Babylon System. Fiya pon di government an big up to to Nesta, may he rest easy in the arms of Zion. Jah! Rastafari
