Baby, I'm An Anarchist! Lyrics - Against Me!

Review The Song (5)

Through the best of times,
Through the worst of times,
Through Nixon and through Bush,
Do you remember '36?
We went our seperate ways.
You fought for Stalin.
I fought for freedom.
You believe in authority.
I believe in myself.
I'm a molotov cocktail.
You're Dom Perignon.
Baby, what's that confused look in your eyes?
What I'm trying to say is that
I burn down buildings
While you sit on a shelf inside of them.
You call the cops
sponsored links
On the looters and piethrowers.
They call it class war,
I call it co-conspirators.

'Cause baby, I'm an anarchist,
You're a spineless liberal.
We marched together for the eight-hour day
And held hands in the streets of Seattle,
But when it came time to throw bricks
Through that Starbucks window,
You left me all alone.

You watched in awe at the red,
White, and blue on the fourth of july.
While those fireworks were exploding,
I was burning that fucker
And stringing my black flag high,
Eating the peanuts
That the parties have tossed you
In the back seat of your father's new Ford.
You believe in the ballot,
Believe in reform.
You have faith in the elephant and jackass,
And to you, solidarity's a four-letter word.
We're all hypocrites,
But you're a patriot.
You thought I was only joking
When I screamed "Kill Whitey!"
At the top of my lungs
At the cops in their cars
And the men in their suits.
No, I won't take your hand
And marry the State.

'Cause baby, I'm an anarchist,
You're a spineless liberal.
We marched together for the eight-hour day
And held hands in the streets of Seattle,
But when it came time to throw bricks
Through that Starbucks window,
You left me all alone.

sound accounts for just a percentage of what you could describe as "punk". against me is clearly categorized as defined by their lyrics, style, and outlook on the world. a real punk band, theyre awesome.

Operation Ivy and Rancid are both third-wave ska bands...dee-dee-dee.

Their sounds and Against Me!'s sounds are completely different; even though I listen to Operation Ivy and Against Me!, their individual(as bands) artistic outlooks are very different.

I hate all the different itterations used to describe so-called "punk" nowadays(i.e. Pop Punk, Folk Punk). I'm not bashing these guys, but why does it seem, that if a band sings about anarchy, it has to be punk? These guys are simply a rock and roll band, not a punk rock band. That is all.

Killer song | Reviewer: blackflagfyer | 9/26/07

this song is one of my favorites but if you even remotely like against me you should deffinetely look into a band called rancid and another band called operation they both are lead by time armstrong but the bands sound nothin alike and still have the same old in your face punk rock attitude you would expect from a traditonal punk rock band

amazing | Reviewer: marcusLTKT | 7/26/07

this song is amazing,
the lyrics, the music, and the all around emotion feeling behind it.
my friends old band use to play this at every show, not nearly as good, but still now everytime i here it i think of them and good times.
