BLACK HOLE SUN Lyrics
Artist(Band):Soundgarden
Review The Song (8)Print the Lyrics
In my eyes, indisposed
In disguise as no one knows
Hides the face, lies the snake
in The sun in my disgrace
Boiling heat, summer stench
'Neath the black the sky looks dead
Call my name through the cream
And I'll hear you scream again

Chorus:

Black hole sun
Won't you come
And wash away the rain
Black hole sun
Won't you come
Won't you come

Stuttering, cold and damp
Steal the warm wind tired friend
Times are gone for honest men
And sometimes far too long for snakes
In my shoes, a walking sleep
And my youth I pray to keep
Heaven send Hell away
No one sings like you anymore

Chorus x 2

Hang my head, drown my fear
Till you all just disappear

Repeat chorus til end

Review about BLACK HOLE SUN

Extermination | Reviewer: Rosi | 12/8/09

Wonder who wrote this song. If Sound Garden wrote it I would be very surprised, no matter what the credits say.

The Sun is a binary star, but generally the Black or Dark Sun isn't what comes to wash away the rain. It's the planet the system shares. Some say we should expect it in 2012, I'm not so sure.

The song lyrics are likely sending chills because we have some long lost memory of previous visits which were almost enough to cause extinction.

Many thanks to our great keepers for their diligent work.

Invokes Sadness and Intense Fear | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/31/09

Strangely I have had a rather morbid fascination with this song since it came out when I was little. I can not say that I like the song because, in fact I hate it. There is something, I don't know what, about it that sends shivers down my spine and literally makes me cringe. In fact there was one time when I was drunk that the song was played on RockBand and I actually ran from the room screaming until I got outside away from it and curled into a ball crying. All this aside, logically I can find nothing wrong with the song, nor a reason that I don't like it, just that I don't. However, that a song can inspire such deep feelings in someone, whether positive or negative, is a show of strength for the band that sings it. I like their other songs, this one's message is just too weird for me though apparently. Perhaps someday I will be able to overcome the irrational fear these lyrics invoke so that I might add this song to the list of songs I like.

a tribute? | Reviewer: just some guy | 4/21/09

i kind of think this song has to do with Kurt Cobains demise. the lines 'In my eyes, indisposed
In disguise as no one knows' may refer to how chris knew kurt on a personal level and how from a glance you probably wouldnt recognize kurt as the artist.. or rock star he was. 'In the sun in my disgrace' and nirvanas 'in the sun, in the sun i feel as one'.
'Steal the warm wind tired friend' may refer to kurt and nirvanas huge success even though they remained friends they took the wind from under other 'grunge' bands wings. 'Times are gone for honest men' obvious..
and my youth i pray to keep meaning i hope i dont go out like you.
and finally and most obviously to me, No one sings like you anymore.... hang my head, drown my fear. TILL YOU ALL JUST DISAPPEAR

Sad, Dark, and Beautiful | Reviewer: Black Sun | 8/15/08

I've always loved this song ever since I heard it in the mid '90s. Those guitars suit the mood of this song perfectly and the lyrics are way out there...hats off to Chris Cornell. This one and 4th of July are my favourite Soundgarden songs...and they're my Doomsday Duo!!

praying for sun to take away the pain... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/16/08

I first heard this on a digital radio station in the UK and it really spoke to me, the sound, the emotion and the lyrics. i wanna sing it myself now and maybe release some of my own demons

Love this! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/9/08

I agree, love this song it is so cool. Its got such a trippy sound. The day I tried to live is also a pretty good song though too. Love the lyrics in that one

This is the best song that Soundgarden made in terms of lyrics, riff and sound quality... brings chills down my spine...
