Many rumors have been going around, that Tobias Sammet is doing a huge side-project with a lot of other musicians from other bands on the metal scene. Now we can tell about it: For over one year now Tobias has been working on the recording of a Metal Opera named "Avantasia", a concept album telling a story which is a mixture beween fantasy, true history and some religious/ philosophic stuff, while the music will be heavy, melodic and bombastic Metal. Today is the first day I heard it and I learned to play the intro on my flute. A very beautiful song that greatly displays Tobias' musical talent. The last two lines of the lyrics I found to be very touching to me. "No farewell could be the last one. If you long to meet again..." It is a hymn to justice and pretty well said. Although, it is a bit mysterious. I expected it would be based on Revelation. Who are those that God condemns for failing to close the gate? And what gate is that? It´s also funny listening, to who is singing, because I also like the other bands from where many of this singers come from. For example "Regrin" in the lyrics, is the head singer Kai Hansen from the band, Gammaray. This song can be a little boring some places and in my opinion the first 1 minute og instrumenal intro could easily be shortened to 15 seconds or so. It´s not that interesting to listen to. A very good thing about this song, is that it actually doesn´t feels very long. There´s a lot of good details to listen to.
