Audioslave Lyrics

In an age when the Internet search engine wields great
power, choosing a title like Revelations is no small risk
for Audioslave. A Google search for “Revelations” initially
brings up references to “The Book of Revelation,” the
chapter of the Bible that describes the end of the world.
You won’t find scriptural verse in Audioslave’s
Revelations, but you will find a soaring testament to the
redemptive power of rock and soul. Audioslave most likely
intends the title to refer to the definition that means
“newly revealed information,” and More...

He's letting her go. "let me rid myself of any line that I might choose..." means I don't want to say anything that will change your mind. Go ahead and leave.
The moonlight line is her basically talking s#!t to him and he's letting her know the grass isn't always greener on the other side.
He wants to be with her, but has too much pride to beg.

i have songbook and its pretty clear the cobweb lyric and i see on several sites there is a mistake with cold wet. i have trouble hearing the room by room patiently part cause it sounds like rum or roam by room.
i think the song is a guy pondering his future after death and wether he is worthy to go somewhere up there and who he needs to ask to get him there. also seems he felt lost once before and when things were dark he felt held or helped and it gives him hope. very poetic and masterful chris cornell.

The song seems to have a more mourning tendency than a romantic song. Yes, I think the 'book full of death' is a reference to the Bible. He talks of a 'cobweb afternoon' and a 'room full of emptiness', which to me imply a recent death, and the second half of the second verse makes reference to an evening full of wine and being 'led-on'. The song rings of lost love, who the narrator (I'm assuming Chris Cornell didn't write this for a dead lover, so it's a nameless narrator) wishes he could be with this lost love again in this Heaven he is now reading about, which gives him hope despite the loss. Though in the third verse, the talk of 'sat in regret of all the things I've done' seems to imply the narrator realizes he can never see this place, but he can continue to dream of it until he dies.

Man every song interpretation site I visit has someone who ways that every single song is about drugs. Artists can feel isolation, get caught up in the system, or fall mentally ill just like anybody else. Couldn't this song be just be about coping with crushing circumstances by staying positive and determined?

Dear Anonymous the first:

while I respect your opinion of what this song means...I will tell you what it actually refers to. Audioslave makes numerous Christian references throughout this entire album. "share the wealth" actually refers to an individuals 10% tithe that the Bible says Jesus finds favor with. The 10% tithe for those who do not know is to take 10% of any money that you earn, is given to you, or that you acquire by any means and "share the wealth" by "giving it up to your brother"...Or those who are in need (worse off). The basis is that Jesus has blessed you with "everything you wanted and planned" now spread it around.."..if you want to receive...give it up to your brother" By doing this..."you can make your load just a little lighter..." Jesus teaches that where your money is, so will your heart be. And if you do what he asks (tithe 10%, you will receive much more than you can ever accumulate here on earth. Now you know Audioslave

Dear guys...
While I do respect your views on what the meaning behind the Lyrics of this song is... I have a different perspective... It's not about people who are violently threatening a person who has made out better and may have more material possession. On this album in particular, Audioslave makes numerous Christian references. Hypnotize, I believe is actually making reference to the 10% tithe we all should be making. Slave says...give to receive, give to your brother, believe, make your load a little lighter. Meaning your burdens in life. Jesus teaches us to become servants to our brother and give what we have to those who have none. When we do this, we will receive much more than we can accumulate here on earth. And this my brothers is the meaning of the song!!! Rock on because it is a graet song created by a great band.

Chris Cornell was reading the Bible for those of you who haven't figured that out yet. It's not a love song. He's referring to trying to get to the Christian Heaven by any means--and deity--necessary. He's awaiting the Christian God and Death to take him away. The lyric is "cobweb". And Chris Cornell spells his last name with a "C". I noticed SOMEONE on here didn't know that.(:

------ About the song Cochise performed by Audioslave

The Boston Bruins adopted this song in the 2010-11 playoffs, incredible to hear it blasting pre-game at the arena. I have no idea what the connection is to the playoff run, this song is off a 2003 album...
