Thrice Atlantic Lyrics

Last updated: 03/23/2010 11:00:00 AM

it's been so long, and tin cans and string for years
is all that we've known, could it be you're really here

'cause my eyes are open, and everything still moves in slow-motion,
breathless and blue, and behind your eyes the sea
oceans of light envelop me

but things can't be as they seem, I'm so far from home
this must be another dream, but my eyes are open

and everything still moves in slow-motion,
breathless and blue, and behind your eyes the sea
oceans of light envelop me

my eyes are open, and everything still moves in slow-motion,
breathless and blue, and behind your eyes the sea
oceans of light envelop me

This defines Thrice | Reviewer: Jawn | 3/23/10

In my opinion, this song defines Thrice.

A band should always be defined by their music, and "Atlantic" provides a perfect example of just how talented this group really is.

The impact of Atlantic isn't solely left to the instrumental value, but rather, the lyrical content and the meaning of each carefully carved word. But, combined with flawless perfection in their instruments, the end result is a beautiful and compelling piece.

Interpretation of the song is left to the listener, but to me, it's a story of enlightenment. With how distracted people can be in everyday life, sometimes we forget about the things that really matter-- family, friendship, love.

I believe that the song speaks of a person who has been able to wake up from his day-to-day slumber and recognize that there is a better existence than the one he lives; something more meaningful than what he already knows.

In the end, Atlantic is a beautiful song and it's endless captivity is rightfully portrayed as the name of the ocean-- this piece just works and flows like the tides of the sea.
