Apology Lyrics - Alesana

Review The Song (16)

Sweat drips in my eyes
Screams of lust we cry
Tonight, you are, everything
You're everything...
You're everything to me

No more as I wake
From this perfect dream...
I'll escape from Eden's walls
Can I not stay and live this lie?
For I must think only of myself

And to think that you will not be scared
Or surprised I severed all these ties
This is the end

I'll lose myself in anguish for tonight
Help me get over you

I feel so numb to see this bitter end...

(It has come to this...) End of beautiful illusions
(Broken pieces) Will not mend
(...One last kiss) To save our past now

I'll lose myself in anguish for tonight
Help me get over you
One last false apology
Help me get over you

Now we must let go...

Urgency overwhelms me as I must restrain my flood of tears

I refuse to be slave to your false beauty again

I'll lose myself in anguish for tonight
Help me get over you
One last false apology
Help me get over you

In my mind blood drips from your eyes
A beautiful last goodbye

Beauty In Words Darkness In Meaning | Reviewer: Sinners | 9/24/11

This is an excellent song I love alesana soo very much they use stories to mold there music using stories of tragedies, love, horror and supernatural stuff there music means something to me and Alesana will forever be in my life and a part of me They are they reason I wanted to learn how to scream.

awesome song | Reviewer: chuck | 9/25/11

Actually, they would not have named the album On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax if they didn't want it to have a central theme, which in this case is greek mythology. Maybe not all songs are direct interpretations of myths but i have found allusions to myths in every song on the album.

CD | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/6/11

actually the songs are (in track order) 1. Icarus, 2. ambrosia, 3. pathetic, ordinary, 4. alchemy sounded good at the time, 5. daggers speak louder than words, 6-10 im not sure about, 11. third temptation of paris, 12. siren's soliloquy, 13. Nero's decay, and not sure about 14.

Actually, if you did know ANYTHING about them, you'd know that the whole entire CD WASN'T based on Greek mythology, and that only CERTAIN songs were, and that this song wasn't one of them, only 6 songs on this album(On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax) were allusions: Icarus; Ambrosia; Pathetic, Ordinary; Alchemy Sounded Good at the Time; The Third Temptation of Paris; and Nero's Decay

judgement | Reviewer: awesome | 5/18/10

it doesnt matter what its about music speaks diffrently to people. it could mean a number of things thats how most artist write. Thats how i write my music it could mean one thing to me but something much deeper to others and it doesnt matter if somones a fan of the band and you cant judge peole if they are really fans because if you're listening to the music and you like it, then thats a fan. fans come diffrently. so thats pretty low when you say someones not a fan because you dont know shit about a person and like i said it could affect a person differently they may have intended it to be about Oedipus but to someone else it could mean love and betrayal. and dont ever say someones not a true fan. it doesn't matter the only thing is a true fan listens to their music, and likes it. and knowing everything about the band doesnt justify shit. its not about them or personal stuff its about the music they write and the way it makes people feel. If you really knew the band @Ellie way you would prob guess that they dont want you judging people on how big a fan they are and what they know about the songs just as long as they are listening to the music and like it i think they are ok with how people look at it.

ellie way was correct, if you knew anything about the band you'd know this, their entire album is based on greek mythology, it just translates well into all era's and societys because the love stories always have true themes running through them.

Okay first off, nothing you said even closely justifies why you think it's about Oedipus, all you did was summarize the story and it has nothing to do with the song. I am just stunned at how people can go in such detail about something so completely wrong. The song is pretty straight forward; no allusions, no synonyms. The girl is a bitch; he finally realizes this and it hurts.

History | Reviewer: Ellie Way | 7/31/09

This song tells the story of Oedipus. He was the son of a king and queen and when he was born, it was prophesized that he would kill his father and marry his mother as an adult. His parents, scared by this prediction, had a servant take the baby out to the feilds to kill him and prevent that from happening. The servant took pity on the child and gave him to a couple who lived in the next town. They raised him as their own, but as an adult, he heard of this prophesy and left home. As he crossed the bridge into (unbeknownst to him) his birth town, he killed a man riding in a carriage. That man was his biological father. Unaware of this, he continued into town and wooed the queen (his biological mother), and they were married. They had three daughters together. I don't remember how, it's been a while since I read this book, but Oedipus finds out that his wife is, in fact, his mother. Distraught and guilty after his mother/wife hangs herself upon this dicovery, Oedipus gouges his own eyes out with broach pin and wonders the earth as a blind man for the rest of his life.

CORRECT LYRICS | Reviewer: §AE§ | 7/20/09

This IS the correct lyrics. I did some research. The other one is missing parts

Sweat drips in my eyes
Screams of lust we cry
Tonight you are everything

YOU'RE EVERYTHING
YOU'RE EVERYTHING TO ME
NO MORE AS I WAKE
FROM THIS PERFECT DREAM
(I'LL ESCAPE)
FROM EDEN'S WALLS
I CAN NOT STAY (AND)
LIVE THIS LIE
FOR I NOW
MUST THINK ONLY OF MYSELF

And to think that you will not be scared
OR SURPRISED I SEVERED
ALL THESE TIES
THIS IS THE END

I'll lose myself in anguish for tonight
Help me get over you
I FEEL SO NUMB
TO SEE THIS BITTER END
IT HAS COME TO THIS
(END OF) BEAUTIFUL ILLUSIONS
ONE LAST KISS
BRO-KEN PIE-CES WILL NOT
SAVE OUR PAST NOW

I'll lose myself in anguish for tonight
Help me get over you
One last false apology
Help me get over you

NOW WE MUST LET GO
(WE MUST LET GO)
URGENCY OVERWHELMS ME AS
I MUST RESTRAIN
MY FLOOD OF TEARS

I REFUSE TO BE
SLAVE TO YOUR FALSE BEAUTY
AGAIN

I'll lose myself in anguish for tonight
Help me get over you
One last false apology
Help me get over you

IN MY MIND
Blood drips from your eyes
A BEAUTIFUL
Last goodbye
