Angels Lyrics - Randy Travis

Review The Song (13)

Me and some of the boys were sitting around the other night
Started talking about politics, religion, love and life
And what a shame it was about 9/11
And what about hell and what about heaven
And is there or isn't there angels on earth
And then one guy said
Well you can take that for what it's worth
If it's something I can see or something I can touch
Well I might believe in all that stuff
So I just had to say to him

Are you telling me that you've never seen an angel?
Never felt the presence of one standing by?
No robe of white
No halo in site
Well you missed the most obvious thing
Man, are you blind?
Just look in your mothers eyes

And then I said who went through the pain
And smiled through the tears on the day of your birth?
She counted your fingers and toes and thank god you were whole
Son you outta know who loved you first, that's right
And who always came running everytime you cried out
And how many more things have you forgotten about
And who tried their best to teach you wrong from right
And how many nights did she leave on the light
While she waited and prayed that you came in
And who'd be there for you right up to the end
Think about it tonight

Are you telling me that you've never seen an angel?
Never felt the presence of one standing by?
No robe of white
No halo in site
Well you missed the most obvious thing
Aww Man, are you blind?
Just look in your mothers eyes

Aww Man, are you blind?
Just look in your mothers eyes
That's right

Our chaplain at the Petro Truck Stop in Ontario, California, sang this song last night. My mother died on July 7, 2004, and she was indeed an angel. She always loved us children, so matter what we did. Not that we were bad people, but although children are oftentimes thoughtless, her love was constant. I appreciated her so much more as an adult than I did as a child. I always loved her, but I didn't always talk to her so sweetly growing up. She taught us about God and the Bible and always prayed for us. I never spoke harshly to her after I grew older, but now I miss her so much. I wish I had spent more time with her in her later years, but I had so many children myself and had things I wanted to do. Now she truly is an Angel living in Heaven, and I miss her so much.

I heard this going home one night on my car radio. It was beautiful and I was moved to tears thinking about my Mother who died in 1971. She was truly an Angel and sacrificed a lot for me and my sisters. I plan to play this at my church on Mother's Day this year.

A Mother's Love | Reviewer: Angel | 1/17/13

The greatest memories I have of my mom was when I was young. I never realized we did not have much but she always did what she could for us. She was alive when I first heard "Angels" but now it is a wonderful tribute to her and the other angels in our world. If you still can, just look in your mother's eyes.

My husband was killed in a horrific car accident on may 15,2009. I played this song for him and his mother at his funeral, i felt the presence of my angel then and still do to this day. I BELIEVE IN ANGELS.

My mother is now an angel in Heaven | Reviewer: Carolyn | 5/16/09

On Oct.30, halloween day, 2008, my mother died peacefully at 84 years old. I have cried and cried many times because I miss her so very much..She was truly an angel on earth and now, I know beyond a doubt she is with God and my dad, brother, and sister...I always cry when I hear "Angels"..It breaks my heart..I wear a sweatshirt honoring my mother that says,"Mothers are sometimes disguised as Angels"..How true!

TRUE - How true. Great song. My Dad was Murderd April 8th 2005 by Stephen Stanko, and every since then my sister has treated my mother and myself like an outcast. I just wish my brother and sister would listen to this song and see that our mother is just this an " Angel " She is a retired school teacher and a true Angel. Thank You Randy !!! Thank you Mom for being my Angel.

mothers are "angels" | Reviewer: Brenda | 4/20/05

The first time I heard this song, I cried like a baby. It really hit me hard. I am close to my mom and this song describes her perfectly. This would be a wonderful song for Mother's Day. I hope the sheet music comes out soon for the piano and guitar.
