------ About the album The Shadow of Your Smile performed by Andy Williams

"The Shadow of Your Smile", Andy Williams' Summer 1966 album, was much like his previous "Dear Heart" album, which I used to think was one of my favorite easy listening albums, and THE favorite Andy Williams album of all time. But "The Shadow of your Smile" in comparison, has aged better somehow. Almost all the tracks are a romantic delight and speak for themselves. The best ones, however, are the two coverings of Antonio Carlos Jobim's Meditation, and How Insensitive, which raises the question as to why didn't Andy rather than feature "Bye Bye Blues" and "A Taste of Honey", choose "Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars" and "Once I Loved"? and make the album truly complete? Nevertheless, these crtitcisms not to withstand, "The Shadow of Your Smile" is also lovingly treasured for the remaining tracks; examples being "That Old Feeling", his cataclysmic take on "Somewhere", "The Summer of Our love" and "Peg O' My Heart", and paved the highway ahead for the next equally wonderful album "Born Free".
