And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead Lyrics
...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead comes over you
like a sudden storm. Their dense songs are full of rolling
erratic thunder (drums, bass, and more drums), slashing
alarming lightning (guitars), relentless needle-sharp rain
(more guitars, anguished vocals), howling winds (effects),
and sometimes even violent, wanton destruction. The storm
analogy might seem a little extreme, but to describe
T.O.D.'s swirling, powerful sonic assault in conventional
terms would fail to convey the extent to which this music
sweeps you away. More...

------ About the song Worlds Apart performed by And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead
I think this song holds a view on American life that most people don't want to realize. This song criticizes all the things Americans are afraid of letting go. Everyday, we let the media and celebrities have constant input in our lives through TV and such. Religion, however good it may seem, is essentially a money-hole crutch for the conscience (moreover a tool for judging others). Our cares are so focused on unimportant things like which songs are good or bad while we have become numbed to blood and death. We have our entertainment industry, our candy store, built on credit and ready to fall because of our degraded values. We are mocked because the greatest nation that couldn't be beaten is on the verge of collapsing like the twin towers, and we only have ourselves to blame. As long as we keep eating the candy the media gives us, we will continue shoveling more ashes.

Oh come, come now.
what was it ghandi said.. "i like your christ but I don't like your christians, they aren't very christ like"
Fortunatley we live in a place where freedom of speach is valued highly, and opinion to boot.
If the bands opinion offends you, avert your ears.
or perhaps open your brain, its been said above but i think your missing the overall message of the song.
Organized religion is primitive at best - we simply do not understand the bigger mysteries in life yet. We do however as humans need an answer - whats after life... a reason not to worry. Being spiritual is one thing, accepting the easiest answer.. never seeking out your own knowledge is ignorant.

Anyone who's seen the Trail O' Dead live know that these unassuming Texans (transplants nonetheless) fully understand the meaning of rock and roll. As per the "fucking h christ" controversy, shut up. Just stop it with your IDEOLOGICALLY BASED SEPARATIST BIGOTRY. Just shut up. The Trail of Dead rock, plain and simple. If you don't like that you're not an American i hate you (jon, from six years ago, who i'm sure is still listening).

great song but please try to refrain from religious musings as this song does not warrant them. after all as a race we know far too little about everything to commit to any one set religious doctrine, but we also know enough to understand that any prescribed religion set out today cannot be true as logic would suggest that the existence of conflicting ideologies means that in turn they cancel one another out.
it's enough to say "hello", we're all human | Reviewer: Alex
------ About the song The Rest Will Follow performed by And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead
getting to hear those lyrics, uttered and sung in this song, was like a revelation to me - never ever was something emphasized in such a peaceful, still slightly aggressive way, with all this sadness, frustration and cheerfulness at the same time, embracing the world while at the same time not giving a shit about those mechanisms and habitual falicy our tradition and socialication is meant to infect us all with - it is an anti-war song, without mentioning war, it is a song of philanthropy, the love for humans, at the same time the love for life.
it would be indeed enough to say "hello" we are all human - instead of taking or guns across the oceans, bringing peace by stealing peace of mind, a piece of might always being integrated in those wars fought for freedom - raise your voice in order to stay silent and resist against those virtues that make us hate each other - away with those killing thoughts, say hello to "we are all human" - i like those lyrics as they evoke harmony and peace in my inside, make me feel connected to the rest of humankind - say hello to the trail of dead, the preachers of life!

I really liked the "Source Tags & Codes" record because it was noise/pop with a soul. And "Intelligence" is a great song. But the "Worlds Apart" album is a huge step forward. Listen to this on acid or mushrooms. There's all kinds of shit going on. Total trips band.

------ About the song Worlds Apart performed by And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead
What's funny is, Trail of Dead are very religious and even try to attend mass on tour. They met in a church choir, for God's sake. I will quote Gandhi here:
"I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."
The fact that Christians get all bent out of shape when you say Jesus fucking Christ goes to show how scared they are... Do you think Christ cares? He has bigger fish to fry and would be happier if you didn't waste your hate and effort on that, either.

"I am a christian i hate those freakin trail of dead!"
Now those are some ironic lyrics!!! You dumbass. He's commenting on those who use the church as a tool to ease their conscience rather than as an authentic way of worshipping God. He's not having a go at God, Jesus, Spirituality or even organised religion. He's criticising the people who subscribe to it rather than believe in it.

------ About the song Ode To Isis performed by And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead
this song not only is wonderfully climatic but it also incorporates violins and other classical instruments as well. the fact that it's a worship song for egyptian gods just tips it over the scale for me. the only downside is it is not LONG enough; surely they could make it into a 4:00 minute song with the same simple lyrics and it would be just as good, even better. i find myself always putting it on repeat and it's my fave off the album worlds apart
