Review The Song (24)Print the Lyrics
America your head's too big, Because America, Your belly is too big. And I love you, I just wish you'd stay where you belong

In America, The land of the free, they said, And of opportunity, In a just and a truthful way.
But where the president, is never black, female or gay, and until that day,
you've got nothing to say to me, to help me believe

In America, it brought you the hamburger. Well America you know where, you can
shove your hamburger. And don't you wonder, why in Estonia they say, Hey you, you big fat pig, you fat pig, you fat pig

Steely blue eyes with no love in them, scan the World,
And a humourless smile, with no warmth within, greets the world.
And I, I have got nothing, to offer you
No-no-no-no-no, just this heart deep and true, which you say you don't need

See with your eyes, touch with your hands, please, hear through your ears, know in your soul, please. For haven't you me with you now? and I love you, I love you, I love you. And I love you, I love you, I love you.

Review about America Is Not The World

Big Head | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/9/2008
hmm...I love most of Morrissey's work...but for some reason I find this offending. Please, talk about our government badly if you'd like, it is horrible I know. I hate it. I'm a Pacifist and completely against everything going on in Iraq. I hate Bush so much, I have a calender counting down the days until he is out of office. What offends me though is that your calling Americans fat...we are not even the fattest country...Australia actually has the higher percentage of over weight people. There are fat people everywhere in this world, and who cares if they are fat, they like food. I'm not fat though. I haven't touched a hamburger in 3 years. I guess like, though our government sucks, don't blame the people. Everyone hates our government anyways, except for the southern hillbillies...where Bush has come from. America is great anyways, and full of great people. Invented here was the lightbulb, elevator, use of electricity, airplane, automobile, telephone....and it was Europeans who came in in the first place so they could have freedom. Our government sucks, but whos government is perfect anyways. Every country has gone through some horrible leaders. I bet the entire world can't wait for Obama to be elected...which he must or I'm moving to canda... XD ha.

    V to that idiot before/below me V | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/22/2008

1st- moron, learn your comparative and superlative degrees of grammar "worst"...?
2nd- you sound like a talk-radio ranter with no facts to back up what you say; you just pass along what you here other arrogant pricks say
3rd- "america"... so are you accusing two entire continents of your proposed allegations? because there's a north and south america... together containing a substantial number of countries of which i don't think you mean to banter. so if you are going to go on a rant toward the premier freedom fighting country in the world... get it right... we are the united states of america

    America?? | Reviewer: Matto | 7/22/2008

I'm so sick of hearing you have self-proclaimed "America".
America is a whole continent with a lot of countries in it!!!!!! You are just one of them, and a very very small part of the entire continent.

Please, stop watching TV, welcome to the real world... you are not that cool...

Use that thing hanging over your neck.

Sorry about my bad english, but i'm not very interested in learning you language.

    inconvenient truth | Reviewer: jan | 5/23/2008

"Regarding Iraq, that dictatorial blood-sucker Saddam should have been out on his ass after what he did to the Kurds and Kuwait. Of course this is an "inconvenient truth" that not a lot of lefties like to acknowledge. We finished what we should have done in 1991."

Sorry buddy. the only inconvenient truth is that America propped up sadaam to kill innocent civilians. And America gave him free guns, bombs, and yes even the chemical weapons so he could use them on Iranians.

The inconvenient truth is that Saddaam *IS* part of the American mistake. The mistake of foreign policy that leads to empire building and nation building and propping dictators and asshoels like sadaam.

You don't agree with me on sadaam?

Okay no problem, America has propped up the saudi's and they're WORST than sadaam. They kill murder and oppress in secret. What about the contras in haiti? Yup propped up by America. Nicaragua? Panama? how about bombing and killing innocent civilians in cambodia against the wills of congress? yup america.

America, your belly IS too big. stop making excuses.

If only our president were gay! | Reviewer: Donald Fagan | 4/15/2008

The lyrics to this song are very contrived. Love the bit where he wants to see a black, female, or gay president. In America we still cling to outmoded ideas, such as the one where the highest office holder in the land isn't determined by race or gender or if you're male and you like other men.

Regarding Iraq, that dictatorial blood-sucker Saddam should have been out on his ass after what he did to the Kurds and Kuwait. Of course this is an "inconvenient truth" that not a lot of lefties like to acknowledge. We finished what we should have done in 1991.

"america" ain't the universal nation | Reviewer: nelsonsfate | 11/29/2007

I appreciate those in Latin America who don't feel that the U.S.A should be messianically named.

And thoughtless populism is pretty ugly.

Morrissey should keep up his acidic antipathies. It appeals to me regardless of where I'm from(uh.. maybe because of?). And you haven't paid a second of attention to the artist if you take it personally.

I was in West Bridgford, Nottingham and was told by a friendly bloke, "When you get home to America write your congressman and tell him to wipe the Middle East off the map!". All I could think was that it would be hard to do. Seemed to me that the honest or contrived disgust that he had for the British establishment and its complacency was a better focus for him and me. But then what the hell did I know about that really!?

Was sure that I didn't want to get on his team and spit in the wind about a million war protesters in the streets of London. I might have liked to be there... I think.

As far as U.S. identity goes it will probably devolve some time in the future and 'chofreak' will get his wish. But as far as humorless antipathy goes it won't be able to match what this web log has to offer! People will be people.

Powerful, corrupt self-preserving governments will go to hell and take a lot of people with them!

I hope Morrissey will make it back to Austin, Texas soon! Cheers! and I love you too!

    just comment | Reviewer: Chofreak | 11/25/2007

I hate to say this but the "american" fellow is right in a way it is very easy to focus in the US criminal policies without watching what's happening in our own countries. As far as I know England, Spain, Denmark and some other countries backed the invasion of Irak, as for France, well, they carried along with the US and Canada the coup against Aristide in Haiti so we all have to watch out what governments are doing in our names. I don't believe in nationalism since it is just a way to justify wars, plunder and destruction.

greetings from Mexico where the government is just as criminal and corrupt as almost everywhere.

PD: I wish someday we could stop calling US people "americans" becouse US is only one part of this great continent who gave birth to Bolivar, Zapata and many other brilliant people

Most americans are just cold | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/18/2007

Obviously even though there are some americans that do worry about what's really happening in the world, there are others (the majority, I'm afraid) that still make up excuses for what their goberment is doing, like the one who posted that europeans shoud read more history... this goes for you...
Uhmm... if you think that we are making a melodrama (after all that's the title of your entry) over millions of persons that are being killed unnecesary so you can drive around in your SUV eating junk food do forgive us... my bad!

    Why? | Reviewer: Sam | 11/9/2007

Do you put up with your moronic political spectrum?

Why do you feel patriotic when other human beings are being killed for an illegal cause!?

    Fair play to Morrissey!
