I don't think this song was originally written "for" Ringo meaning as a tribute to him per se, but rather it was written for Ringo to record. I'm not sure if Lennon was truly an atheist. Twice in his song "Beautiful Boy" he says, "Before you go to sleep, say a little prayer." So I'm thinking he believed in some higher power.

Hmmmm, I'm not sure how to take this song as a tribute. It was originally penned with different lyrics as a song for Ringo, then John was killed, so I wonder how much of it was changed and what the original content was. Catchy tune, fishy lyrics.

wasnt lennon atheist? if so, why would harrison write that god is the only reason we exist? dont get me wrong, i LOVE the beatles, they were the most talented, and most profound musicians and songwriters ever.
