Alive With The Glory Of Love Lyrics - Say Anything

Review The Song (118)

“Alive With The Glory of Love”

When I watch you, wanna do you, right where you're standing…yeah.
Right on the foyer, on this dark day, right in plain view…oh, yeah….
Of the whole ghetto, the boot-stomped meadows, but we ignore that, yeah.
You're lovely, baby. This war is crazy, I won't let you down…oh, no no….

No, I won't let them take you, won't let them take you…Hell, no no…
Oh, no…I won't let them take you, won't let them take you…Hell, no no…
No, oh no, no, no….

And when our city, vast and shitty, falls to the Axis, yeah…
They'll search the buildings, collect gold fillings, wallets, and rings…oh, yeah.
But oh miss black eyeliner, you'd look finer with each day in hiding, oh yeah…
Beneath the wormwood, ooooo, love me so good…
They won't hear us screw away the day.
I'll make you say:

“Alive! Alive! Alive with love, alive with love tonight…”
“Alive! Alive! Alive with love, alive with love tonight…”

(No, I won't let them take you, won't let them take you…Hell, no no…
Whoa, no…I won't let them take you, won't let them take you…Hell, no no…)

Our Treblinka is alive with the glory of love….
Treblinka is alive with the glory of love! Yeah!

(Ok, speed it up….Go!)

Should they catch us and dispatch us to those separate work camps,
I'll dream about you. I will not doubt you with the passing of time….Oh, yeah.
Should they kill me, your love will fill me as warm as the bullets, yeah.
I'll know my purpose. this war was worth this. I won't let you down…

No, I won’t….
No, I won’t….
No, I won’t….

(Alive! Alive! Alive with love, alive with love tonight…)

Hell no, no…Whoa, no, I won't let them take you, won't let them take you….Hell, no, no.
No! No!

Beautiful | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/6/12

Not only is it a good song by a brilliant band, it also has a beautiful back story. It is about the love between a Jewish couple when the Nazis were invaiding Europe. The passion between the couple is obvious & the tempo of the song itself really gets you to imagine this passionate love between two people stuck in a war which was against them.

my two cents | Reviewer: D | 7/22/11

Some people have been saying that the song is immature ("I wanna do you/screw the day away") and others say its about true love ("I won't let them take you/i'll still dream about you/if they kill me your love will fill me warm as the bullets)

I have to say, I think you're both right. An immature boy goes off to fight a war he doesn't really understand and meets a hot girl. As the World War II (there are various obvious references) continues he's forced to grow up and confront his very real feelings for his love while they're in a horrible condition.

Just my two cents...take it or leave it.

Treblinka | Reviewer: avione | 6/22/11

So i believe if this is about his grandparents then it has something to do with Poland and the Jewish extermination camp called Treblinka. I can't remember exactly what it was all about, but i do remember that there was a ghetto in Germany that banded together to kill the gestapo and be free. But that did not happen and they all died. You can kind of tell that's what it might be about thanks to the "whole ghetto" quote and the whole "gold fillings wallets and rings" reference, and of course the "Treblinka" reference as well and finally, the "separate work camps" thing. So ummm, ponder on that.

NOOOOOOO | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/31/11

it was INSPIRED by his grandparents but its NOT totally about them....he made his own story that's why he is able to put "i wanna do you right where your standing" cus its not his grandmother ....and for the ones saying hes just a horndog..its not its about love, its even in the name! or in "your love will fill me as warm as the bullets"

seriously? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/27/11

no where in this song does he call her hot. obviously he's not going to call his freakin' grandmother hot, he says lovely - last i checked it wasn't the same as hot. his grandfather wasn't a horndog and this song isn't ABOUT sex, they just mention it. this is a true story about two young kids in seperate concentration camps who loved each other so much, that they'd go through any beating, any war, just to get to each other. the lead singer was just lucky enough to have it be his own grandfather.

love this song, love the band. this brings back some SERIOUS nastalgea. <3

Intresting | Reviewer: Sam | 12/24/10

I remember being in class and learning about the holocaust. So I got this right away with the under tone meaning. I really find it a great song that lets you easyly be quite passionate. It's one of my favriots because it shows and preserves some of history in a complete creative way. Still it has the feeling of being in lust and love for the first time. Also with the idea that yes this could be the last weeks of your life. It comes through with an amazing feeling of rebelion, vulnerability, hope and mostly last and first love.

Uplifting message! | Reviewer: Nathalie | 12/11/10

I think this song is pretty uplifting. To me, underneath the obvious context, there's a message that I can really relate to. Something like:
"okay, so circumstances aren't great with the war and that, but I love you so much, we've been through a lot together, and I won't ever let you down. I'd go through this crap a million times if it means I can be with you...oh and btw you're REALLY HOT. Okay...LETS DANCE!"

awesome song") | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/9/10

this is totally about the holocaust and the war with hitler. its a really great song. its amazing what he protrays because even thought there is so much shit going on he doesnt care because he loves his girl and says if they do find him and kill him he'll still love her and she'll still love him.

Our Treblinka is alive with the glory of love…. | Reviewer: Pablo | 12/3/10

You guys are missing the point of the song. Yes it's about sex, but it's also about hope, he wants them both to survive their time in the Polish ghettos, their extraction, and towards the end their time in the Treblinka death camp.

This song is beautifully written, with a twist of lust and naughtiness. Maybe the two kids represent that young lustful-innocent love we all have experienced one time or another.

... | Reviewer: anonymous | 11/9/10

i actually love this song. it seems so lighthearted at the beginning, then progresses to be more serious. a good friend of mine often serenades people with this song (which--trust me--is a sight to see). the first time i heard it, i just thought it was ha humourous kind of song, but as i dug in and did some reasearch, i began to see the meaning and thought it was pretty beautiful. and everyone, you need to chill. it's a freaking song. even if it was just about some horny guy, it's still just a song. so, chilllll.

wrong! | Reviewer: Gorrarz | 10/23/10

max was inspired by a letter of his grandfather ... so its based on a true story ... thats what makes this song so beautiful and romantic ... and i get angry if i read you telling stupid things like the song is just about a horny young man!!

So cute | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/18/10

I think this song is the epitome of romance because he wants her soooooooooooooooo bad it's so obvious and his passion for wanting her is so damn hot and keeps him going through this awful war. Who knew a song about such an awful war could be soooo sweet? (even though it is very sexual lol, it's sweet too)

guys honestly | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/3/10

this song is beautiful because it is about a young man who clearly wants to have sex with this hot girl but he says many times throughout the lyrics that he is in love with this girl he is singing about so is it really just about a horny young man

AMAZING song... | Reviewer: sarah.sarah.sarah | 8/26/10

Really... This song sort of gives me chills! Only a genius can make a song about surviving the holocaust and love upbeat and catchy! And I don't think it's immature... You don't think a "mature man" still feels lust for his lover? Besides... IT'S A SONG. A young adult wrote it, therefore his the lyrics reflect that.
