Albion Lyrics
Artist(Band):The Libertines
Oh Down in Albion
They're black and blue
But we don't talk about that
Are you from 'round here?
How do you do?
I'd like to talk about that
Talk over
Gin in teacups
And leaves on the lawn
Violence in bus stops
And the pale thin girl with eyes forlorn
More gin in teacups
And leaves on the lawn
Violence in dole queues
And the pale thin girl
Behind the checkout
But if you're looking for a cheap sort
Set in false anticipation
I'll be waiting in the photo booth
At the underground station
So come away, won't you come away
We could go to...
Catford, Watford, Lincoln Digberth, Hereford
Anywhere in Albion
Ahh yellowing classics
And canons at dawn
Coffee wallahs and pith helmets
And an English song
Aah... Reebok classics
And canons at dawn
Coffee wallahs and pith helmets
And, and the English song
But if you're looking for a cheap tart
All glint with perspiration
There's a four-mile queue
Outside the disused power station
Now come away, wont you come away
We'll go to...
Margate, Scarborough, Wigan, Sheppard’s Bush
Oh anywhere
but if you're looking for a cheap tart
that’s glint with perspiration
there's be waiting at the photo booth
at the underground station
wont you come away, come away
we’ll go to
anywhere in albion

Review about Albion
Albion | Reviewer: Josh | 8/23/2007
Albion is the best song by the Babyshambles even if it isn't the original. Pete truly is a lyrical genius!

May the Albion sail on course | Reviewer: Kâtïe | 9/19/2005
Albion perfectly captures the unrealistic beauty of the Arcadian dream held by The Libertines with none of the tumultuous volatility that the band, or at least Peter Doherty, are known for. The song is complete in its original form, the Babyshambles version will never be the same. Albion is charming and beautiful, and may it sail on course sometime again.

Well, what can i say | Reviewer: WIll | 2/15/2005
The first time i heard the chunk of pure beauty that is albion was on a shitty little video camera that a mate had got into filth mcnastys. i loved the song and did my best to get a download of it. which was hard enough before the liberines where anything big. well anyway i think it sums up the feelings of pete (not that i really know what goes through his fucked up/genius mind) and carl perfectly

Libs rule | Reviewer: jo | 11/14/2004
I didnt even know that there was an original libs version of Albion, but i dont think that it could be much better than this one. I like the way it is powerful even though it is an acoustic melody. I think pete has an amazing voice with a kind of raw edge to it. I love him, we all love him, and when i see him live im going to throw underwear at him yay! Libs rule!

Babyshambles cover | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/14/2004
i havent heard the original Libs version, but Pete Doherty's new band, Babyshambles have done an acoustic cover... pure class. The words are rather hilarious whilst being solemnly patriotic....no1s gonna read this so i might as well just throw a few lewd comments around.....ARSE! ####! There, now go away.....to anywhere in Albion.
