WHY IT ISNT IRONY... | Reviewer: EXPLAINED
------ About the song Ironic performed by Alanis Morissette

The reason none of the events in this song are ironic is because they are all just coincidences. Irony is when the opposite of what is commonly expected to happen occurs. Does it never rain on wedding days? No, it is completely possible for it to rain. Irony would be "Rain on your wedding day... to Ra, the Egyptian sun-god." He is a sun god so you wouldn't expect it to rain. That example is take for "Actually Ironic" by College Humor. Look it up for more examples.

------ About the song Ironic performed by Alanis Morissette

love this song so much,y?it obviously helps us realize that life's certainly unfair and evrything will not always turn out as expected.Things come when we least expect them, and do the answers to our questions.Blessings & limitations are always on our way,we can nver evade both.We just came to realize that evry single piece of experience either to make or break us,will teach us how to be humble & look forward for brighter days ahead. As there'll always be twisted path in evry road were taking.Life's not fair at times, but we must not just succumb to it,but surpass it.

------ About the song Perfect performed by Alanis Morissette

This song makes me so sad. I never feel good enough for my parents. My sister and brother are always so much smarter than me, and I feel like my parents never respect and appreciate the few talents I have. I am smart, but I never measure up to my siblings. My parents only once said they were proud of me in my entire life, and that was because I had finally 'worked hard at something', not because I was actually good at it. So I really connect to this song. It makes me sad, but it's nice to know someone feels the way I do too. It's saved me from vague thoughts of suicide more than once.
Thank you, Alanis!

Not Necessarily | Reviewer: Silvia
------ About the song Your Congratulations performed by Alanis Morissette

This song isn't necessarily about parental abuse or neglect, unless I'm currently being neglected, which I don't think I am. I struggle constantly for my parents to notice the good things I've done and not just think I'm worthless all the time, which I think. I've tried everything and thought everything in this song at many points throughout my life. All I've ever wanted was approval from my parents. But I'm very sorry that you experienced parental neglect/abuse, Barb, even if I don't feel this song is about that topic.

Duh! | Reviewer: Silvia
------ About the song Ironic performed by Alanis Morissette

This song is all about irony, idiots! And in fact, she does say it's ironic. Near the end, she says
'And isn't it ironic?
Don't you think?
A little too ironic?
Yeah I really do think'

------ About the song That I Would Be Good performed by Alanis Morissette

I can connect to this song so much becauseI have some big self-esteem problems (and middle school doesn't help much) Also, Phoebe, it's nice to know that Alanis had an eating disorder, because I'm anorexic, so this song gives me hope- I feel if Alanis did it, so can I! I love this song!

Daddy Issues | Reviewer: Silvia
------ About the song Heart of the House performed by Alanis Morissette

I feel like this song isn't just commending her mother, but also criticizing her father, asking her sarcastically, 'Where is he? Why are you alone?' Am I the only one who gets feelings in general that Alanis had some troubles with her dad?

This Song is so True | Reviewer: Silvia
------ About the song Ironic performed by Alanis Morissette

Okay, first of all, all of the things mentioned ARE extremely ironic. Just wanted to say that, and also that everyone who said they weren't ironic are idiots. (sorry... nah, not really)
Second of all, I love this song because it is so true. Whenever I'm feeling sad that something worked out exactly opposite of what I wanted it to, I listen to it. It makes me feel better and reminds you that sometimes life really does have a funny way of screwing you over.

------ About the song Excuses performed by Alanis Morissette

I totally relate to this song! So many times have I just wanted to make an excuse, and it makes me feel safe, because I'm 'not to blame'. And although I'm getting better at admitting my excuses, I sometimes just want to retreat into the happy world of familiar excuses.

------ About the song That I Would Be Good performed by Alanis Morissette

This song definitely hits home for me, because I really struggle with my self-esteem, and middle school doesn't help a lot. I'm also anorexic, so this song gives me hope. It's nice to know, Phoebe, that Alanis also had an ED, because, if she can get over it, maybe so can I. Alanis is so amazing- she's one of those artists who make you feel as if they wrote a song specifically for you, she connects so much to what I'm going through at different points in my life.
