Along with counterparts Jewel and Fiona Apple, Alanis
Morissette was one of the most successful
singer/songwriters to ride in on the second wave of grrrl
rock in the mid-'90s. Born on June 1, 1974, Alanis Nadine
Morissette and her two brothers were raised in Ottawa,
Canada by French-Canadian and Hungarian parents. By the age
of 10, the precocious Morissette had landed a role on the
Nickelodean TV show "You Can't Do That on Television" and
recorded her first single, "Fate Stay With Me." She spent
most of her pre-pubescent years performing throughout
Canada, singing "O Canada" at sporting events and even
making the de rigueur appearance on "Star Search."
The hard work paid off and at 14 Morissette was offered a
recording contract with MCA/Canada. Her debut, Alanis More...

------ About the song That I Would Be Good performed by Alanis Morissette
This song is about someone who is sick, or metaphorically "falling apart at the seams". Someone who feels that because of this illness, this defect, they are worthless or cannot be loved. The things that I interpreted are depression; That I would be loved, even if I numbed myself & That I would be good, even if I lost sanity, so it really hits home for me. Love this song, it's an Alanis classic. I cry every time.

------ About the song Wunderkind performed by Alanis Morissette
Well i dont speak German nor do i understand it. All i know is when i first heard her say wunderkind i felt my spirit rise in agreement and i felt really special like im somebody not just a face in the crowd and i felt like come whatever im drawing close to God's purpose for my life. to live as a daughter and not as a slave that my life is a journey one that ends with me becoming one with Christ. i'v been a christian long enough to know dat when things happen likd this(the mistake in d pronounciation) its mostly because God wants it that way. if u doubt that then ask yourself
if despite the mistake, the song still ministers to you. if ur answer is yes, then there is no mistake bcos the song has fulfilled its purpose

------ About the song Hands Clean performed by Alanis Morissette
A year ago, in Sydney...this song is so damn true for the story of two people
Ooh this could be messy
But you don't seem to mind
None of us minded ... have you ever felt you really know a person after knowing him for a month.
So many random thoughts are passing though my head now. You know, it's like, when you want to scream, but you can't; when you want to cry, but you cannot afford showing it to anyone, as if you want to put it down on a billboard, but no one had to see it.
Till you reach the edge and you want to share the greatest adventure of your life to the whole world, cause a very few people may have experienced such love. No one should know it, and everyone should know what a real love is, and feel it.
Have you ever spent time for writing meaningless, random things while you are at work?
Thank you possum, for making this true, for playing with blue lights, for all the parks, trips, full moons, possums, helicopters.
Do you have a person next to you who is making a surprise specially for you EVERY DAY???
I don't care who may see this...
"I wish I could tell the world cuz you're such a pretty thing when you're done
up properly
I might want to marry you one day if you watch that weight and keep your firm
body"

------ About the song Hands Clean performed by Alanis Morissette
"If it weren't for your maturity none of this would have happened"
Being 28, having your life in order, having everything a person would ask for... why did we have to mess it up...in such a adventurous, intense, passionate, lovely way.
We were supposed to be two mature people, having our partners, being colleagues at work... seems like a normal story - but it's not.
Thank you for making me feel alive again, and giving me the best of you.
I wish I could tell everyone about you, but I can't....and it's killing me inside. I guess that's why I'm writing it here - at our song... will continue this...I don't care how "pink" this story could be, but this is our story and i want the world to know what true love is about, and how intense it could be... i doubt someone had felt so many strong feelings in such a short time
I really like that song from The Beatles that Alanis covered it | Reviewer: Alyssa
------ About the song Dear Prudence performed by Alanis Morissette
I think 'Dear Prudence' is a great cover song from The Beatles, Alanis was at the Radio City Music Hall for the John Lennon concert tribute, She played her guitar and sang it, I think her voice is beautiful.
Breathtaking lyrics---ALMOST the perfect song | Reviewer: MychemFreak
------ About the song Wunderkind performed by Alanis Morissette
Indeed, I think that this is Alanis's best song yet, in a lyrical sense. She makes several errors, the most notable being her incorrect pronounciation of the word Wunderkind. But if you look passed that and analyze the moral and the psychological/philosophical insight of this great writer, you'd be as amazed as I am. Basically, the message is about inner-divinity unleashed in a corrupt world, which fits so perfectly into today's governmental stature as it did with Narnia's. I truly love this song, because it reflects on my own life, but also the life of everyone around me, for everybody is a potential 'wunderkind', but unleashing it is the key. And with her mention of bravery, nobility, honor, selflessness -she doesn't actually use these words (excpt. the 1st), I, a philosophical and literary student can see that she has done her homework. Truly, I am happy to see that songs like this, with such a powerful and intellectual message are still writen in today's shallow and superficial world of entertainment. Compliments to Alanis!

------ About the song Mary Jane performed by Alanis Morissette
i went to your house, walked up the stairs, i opened the door without ringing the bell, walked down the hall into your room, where i could smell you and i shouldn’t be here without permission, shouldn’t be here. Would you forgive me love if i danced in your shower would you forgive me love if i lay in your bed, would you forgive me love if i stayed all afternoon? i took of my close put on your robe went though your drawers found your colon went to the den, found your CDs and i played your Johnny. And i shouldn’t stay long you might be home soon, shouldn’t stay long would you forgive me love if i danced in your shower could you forgive me love if i laid in your bed would you forgive me love if i stayed all afternoon? i burned your incense I’m in a bath, i noticed a letter that sat on you desk, it said "Hello love, i love you so much, meet me at midnight.” and no it wasn’t my writing i better go soon it wasn’t my writing. So forgive me love if i cry in your shower so forgive me love for the salt in your letter so forgive me love if i cry all afternoon...

------ About the song Your House performed by Alanis Morissette
"Your House" is gut wrenchingly pure...love lost and the white knuckled attempts to reconnect to something gone. The last verse nearly made me double over, such is the ability to feel her pain & disbelief & panic & grief. How I wish the song were just a bit longer!

------ About the song Ironic (Acoustic Album Version) performed by Alanis Morissette
taylor: the lyrics are correct. When Alanis released the acoustic version of Jagged Little Pill in 2004, she changed the lyric to show support for gay marriage. Google 'ironic husband lyrics change alanis' for details.

This song is so powerful, beautiful and sad all at the same time. She sings the lyrics so powerfully....the song still gives me goosebumps to this day.
one (big) problem | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Wunderkind performed by Alanis Morissette
It may be a great piece and all that, but it would be a lot better if she had bothered to find out how to pronounce the title of her own song. Wunderkind is a German word. It sort of destroys the song that she keeps repeating it and says it glaringly wrong each time.

------ About the song Wunderkind performed by Alanis Morissette
There is a sense of loss when the movie ends that echoes the sense of loss when the reading of each book was completed. This beautiful song helps in the transition back to this "world." How lucky we all are to benefit from the gifts of such a wonderful lyricist.
