well, i'm here to make myself sure that the song is wunderkind, not voounderkint, and when i search the meaning (i can't understand english words nicely, or even spelling it), i saw this page, again, i read the review, and, i'm still not sure that this song is talking about christian or not, because many review talking about christian and, please, what is the (real) meaning of this song?

I love this song soo much. I can relate (I did NOT break into anyone's home) but I know what it's like to love someone so much you'd do anything to be close to them.. the song ends too soon, yet so perfectly.. <3 Alanis.

The song is very uplifting. It reminds me that I am someone special because Jesus died so I could live in a place of all kinds of wonderment. It helps me be brave & hope for a brighter future. It reminds of who I really am in God's kingdom; I am a princess on the way to my throne. I am inspired to live like one who dares to live a more righteous life in the face of a discouraging world.

Seems to me you all are missing the point, anyone can draw a parallel with any love song to their own relationships, not very enlightening comments. I personally doubt she wrote this all on her own at 18 years old and had some help piecing it all together. I suspect she wrote some of it based on her own experience dating a guy 15 years older than her at that time. Clearly she is referring to a close friend and older man that she was involved with regardless. She is stating that she did not want to fall in love with him but that she had no choice but to acknowledge his love because it's so pure and foreboding. Unlike the immature jerks in her life he treated her like a friend and woman and with the utmost respect. While her heart longs for hot guys that are "cooler and hipper" that would impress her peers, she is now aware that he is the only one deserving of her attention and love. He is the one that treats her like a princess and she loves it although she doesn't want to admit it to herself or friends. He had always presented his love and affection in an unconditional manner, not demanding anything from her in return. He is the one that has always been her true best friend and confident. She knows as a young woman, she is by nature completely irrational, and she regrets not being more forthcoming and accepting his love earlier in their relationship. She now fully appreciates and accepts him for everything he is and has been to her. If she was that wise at 20 years old, she is wiser than most woman I've dated in their late 30's.

I love the part after the break the most. I first discovered it by accident while driving listening to her CD and letting the track continue to run. She performs it so heart wrenching and heartfelt. Alanis has a truly amazing voice. A real artist in a sea of posers! Loves it!

Not every song makes sense or has to have a deeper meaning and if they have a meaning, that doesn't mean we have to find it. Take "Viva La Vida." No one knows what that means. Don't be so uptight about it. Just enjoy the music.

Not to rain on anyone's parade but I think this is a great song with baffling lyrics which don't really make sense. Not that my opinion is important or will change your opinion, but I think some of the reviewers are putting too much importance on this song.
