Again We Rise Lyrics - Lamb Of God

Review The Song (8)

Rise!
Store-bought attitude and spit,
A sugar coated piece of @#!*%.
An instant rebel, just add greed.
Another useless commodity.
Broken glass and a broken jaw,
Lies are told in a southern drawl.
Poor-house poverty's your shtick,
The real thing would kill you quick.

Rise, again we will rise (x2)

Blood and fire used to fill the night,
Burnt and drowned by our very lives.
You missed a sinking boat by years,
Dollar signs, crocodile tears.
It's over now and long has been,
Those days are gone won't come again.

Another name crossed off the list.
The real thing would kill you quick.

Rise, again we will rise (x2)

There's nothing for you to fight against,
You're so unreal it's evident.
You'll never be one of our kind,
This ain't yours, @#!*% you don't try.

(whispers) This ain't yours, @#!*% you, don't try

This ain't yours, @#!*% you, don't try,
This ain't yours, so @#!*% you, don't try.
This ain't yours, @#!*% you, don't try,
This was never yours, @#!*% you, don't try!

This bridge was burnt before you could cross,
You reap the benefits of what's lost.
Go home son, hang your costume up,
A @#!*% insult to the rest of us.
A thousand-yard stare across the south,
A full belly and a lying mouth.
Momma's boy plays heretic.
The real thing would kill you quick, @#!*%.

Rise, again we will rise (x2)

There's nothing for you to fight against,
You're so unreal it's evident.
You'll never be one of our kind,
This ain't yours, @#!*% you, don't try.

Rise
@#!*% you, don't even try.
Rise
@#!*% you, your time is nigh.
Rise
@#!*% you, I've had enough.
Rise
@#!*% you, your time is up. (x2)

It's not politics, it's the "civil war", you FEKKS!!! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/9/12

At least, that's what I believe, and I will leave it up to L.O.G. to correct me. Basically, what I get from the song, is telling all the southerners who say "the south will rise again" while flying the confederate flag that they wouldn't survive the war if it happened today, and that they need to let it go. Whether it's about states rights or slavery, the war's over, and we are one united nation. Get over it. Goddamn, what the hell are they teaching in schools these days?!?

No politics | Reviewer: Adam Czarski | 9/15/11

In the making of Sacrament DVD, Mark Morton (guitar) says this is the first album since Ashes that has nothing to do with politics, and he says he is happy about that, because he was sick and tired of putting politics in songs

DUDE AT THE TOP! | Reviewer: Tyler | 9/10/11

Hey, its a fucking song. Do you really think that he wrote this about nobody? Do people suddenly write songs about nobody without any inspiration for writing them? Bush was a stake to the heart of America, and the bastard didn't deserve a second term, but America has tendencies to keep the same president during wartime so it is understandable. But that is beside the point. GO LISTEN TO THE ENTIRE ASHES OF THE WAKE ALBUM! Nearly every fucking son on that album has some political influence. "Stoke the flame of the empire" (Now You've Got Something to Die For) what the fuck empire do you think it is, huh? The galactic empire from star wars? Dude, either accept the fact that Lamb of God writes about politics or stop listening or stop complaining and supporting the shittiest thing to ever happen to the United States, except the great depression, which Bush coincidentally almost made happen AGAIN!

really people? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/4/11

its a song. please dont bring politics into it. No where in the song does it say "Fuck You Bush!" so why assume it? this song actually just makes me think of posers in general. in music, school... etc. All the people who think they're amazing but are really the piece of dog shit you scrape off the bottom of your shoe.

Freaking awesome | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/23/10

Well I kinda agree with the Bush-side of it. And at the same I don't. Everyone will be able to relate this to something. That (Beside the fucking awesome music :D) and the fact that everyone can react and get their anger out with this track is perfect. I hear this track whatever the mood. It beats 99% of all hardcore metal tracks. It's so worked through that nothing beats it! I've seen them twice and trust me it's the craziest concert to be at ! ! Love it

Bush was a fagot | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/14/10

To me this song is about President Bush..it was wrote around the time he was in office. Lies are told in a southern draw. Poor-house poverty's your schtick. That and the rest of the song make me think that he is talkin about how fake and usles bush was in office. Blood and fire used to fill the night. Burnt and drowned by our very lives. I think that is about the pointless war in Iraq. Idk..just my thought

Agreement | Reviewer: Sanarchym | 11/22/09

I completely agree, gets the listener so fired up about everything. To me about posers and people trying their best to 'fit in' when they shouldnt be. "Go home son, hang your costume up
A goddamn insult to the rest of us" reflects that I recken. Awesome awesome song, and best album in my books. 10+

RISE! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/20/09

holy shit in heaven...this song makes me very angry but in a good way. yeah it's possible people. makes me angry about a ex, or a enemy. someone who makes you so livid that you can't see straight. "this ain't yours, fuck you, don't try" "you'll never be one of a kind." deep and powerful words!
