Advertising Space Lyrics - Robbie Williams

Review The Song (11)

There's no earthly way of knowing
What was in your heart
When it stopped going
The whole world shook
A storm was blowing through you

Waiting for God to stop this
And up to your neck in darkness
Everyone around you was corrupted
Saying somethin'

There's no dignity in death
To sell the world your last breath
They're still fighting over
Everything you left over

I saw you standing at the gates
When Marlon Brando passed away
You had that look upon your face

All that's left in any case
Is Advertising space

Through your eyes
The world was burning
Please be gentle
I'm still learning
You seemed to say
As you kept turning up

They poisoned you with compromise
At what point did you realise
Everybody loves your life
But you ahahh

Special agent for the man
Through watergate and vietnam
No one really gave a damn
Did you think the CIA did

I saw you standing at the gates
When Marlon Brando passed away
You had that look upon your face

All that's left in any case
Is Advertising space ooooohh

I saw you standing at the gates

No one learned from your mistakes
We let our profits go to waste
All that's left in any case

I've seen your daughter
Man shes cute
I was scared but I wanted to
Boy she looks a lot like you

It is about Elvis and Marlon Brando | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/26/11

I saw you (Elvis) standing at the gates (of heaven) when Marlon Brando passed away...

This means Elvis who was already dead was waiting for Marlon Brando when he passed away, at the Gates of Heaven

Response to Amir - 'About Elvis' | Reviewer: Kaz | 11/4/09

Sorry -- but you're wrong - the lyrics say 'standing at the gates when Marlon Brando passed away'... Brando died in July 2004 but Elvis had already been dead since August 1977. Can't be him that the song is talking about, can it? And was Elvis ever 'special agent for the man through Watergate and Vietnam'? Would like to know who the song is about though... Such a lovely tune, and so very haunting.

Who's that woman in Advertising Space??? | Reviewer: Yulia | 4/25/06

I love this song - my favorite used to be No Regrets, yet this one (as everyone notices, very simple) simply captivates me. It is definitely his best creation. Does anyone know who he's singing about in the song, is he implying someone real??? Please reply!

Rds, Yuliya

.....how something so simple (music, rhythm) can be so ..... interesting, and above all good. IMHO best slow song he ever recorded (even better than Angels)....
