Hailing from sunny Los Angeles California, Acetone makes a
comfortable spot for themselves in the music industry, and
it's not in one particular genre, because "we don't lock
ourselves into a category," says the trio's main vocalist
Richie Lee, who is also the group's bass player.
It all started as early as 1987 when Richie was attending
Cal Arts in Valencia, CA. There he met Mark Lightcap, the
group's guitarist, and drummer Steve Hadley was attending
high school. Before Acetone's 1993's debut CD Cindy was
released, the guys went through a number of vocalists
before they realized it was meant to be just them, a
threesome. Cindy was a blend of pop, garage and underground
sounds, but that wasn't enough for them.
