Ace of Spades is basically the Lemmy Manifesto about how to live life. He is using gambling and card games as a metaphor for the way he lives. The key line is "the pleasure is to play, makes no difference what you say." In other words in doesn't matter if you win or lose at the game of life as long as you live your life "balls out" with no compromise.

I don't the full meaning of the song as of yet, but it's clearly about suicide. I was listening to an old radio program about dignitaries who were part of a suicide club, and the person who picked the ace of spades, was the one chosen to "take of business" if you will. that and a dead man's hand is a full house consisting of aces and eights. combined with the line "I don't wanna live forever. I still like the song, but it really makes you wonder.

Strange coincidence the dead mans hand is referring to the card the ace of spades which is the card that indirectly caused the death of cliff burton 4 years later because cliff won a card game and got to sleep on the top bunk of the tour bus and it flipped cliff died

@craig. In an interview with Lemmy Kilmister,he stated that he wrote Ace of Spades about playing poker with "Fast" Eddie Clarke while riding in their tour bus doing 100 mph.That was how they passed the time riding between gigs. So if Lemmy says its about gamblig or a crad game. I'd take his word for it.

I've seen motorhead 3 times over a span of 8 years on the same festival. probably the got motorhead free with the main stage. and each time the same joke:
We gonna play one from the ace of spades album! (wait 3 second for the roar) not the song though!
everytime it was the last song to be played. and damn i have some great memories of those gigs :)

Utter nonsense. Motorhead's first guitarist was Larry Wallis, formerly of The Pink Faries. Lemmy has stated on many occasions that the song is about poker.
