I heard this song for the first time from young lad who had a thick voice and sang so beautifully. I was facinated by the way he sang and asked him to send me the copy of the song. After reading some of the comments, I want to share my thoughts too. This song is not a theology thesis; rather the author was trying to paint a picture to illustrate something incredible.
This song paints a picture with a strong contrast between two sides: on one side is the glorious Son of God who is above all thins in this world, yet on the other side - He let Himself be treated like dirt, "trampled on the ground", and died on the cross thinking of (saving) the one thing that He treasures above all things - me (each of us).
To me "...thought of me above all" is entirely consistent with saying "Jesus is my personal savior" or "Jesus died for me". The "all" in "above all" can be understood simply as everything worthy and precious, including His own life, which he gave up for me.
Thank you MSW for painting such a vivid and "personal" picture of just how much Jesus loves me.

Well I read most of the reviews, What about the message? try to look deeply into the song, the real meaning, don't let the arrogance of our hearts take place on this, just let it go seeking the spiritual, One important thing any thing that talk to us about Jesus, it's not to have contrversy around us, is to keep Jesus Love Alive in our hearts. 2 Timothy 3:14-17 Apply this verses to all the ways God inspire us to worship him. "and thought of me" I think "me" is not an appropriate word to use. Why? the reason we are saved is because of the LOVE of God. God is above all thing even his creation...To God be the Glory... the proper word is "and thought of YOU"

The Lord created His church. Mathew 16 V 18. He told his disciples to preach the gospel. And those who believe are saved. Marc 16 V 15 - 16. The gospel saves, and the gospel is: 1 st Corinthians 15 V 1-5.
Jesus started His church on the day of pentecost. With His own doctrine but nowadays we all deviate from what is the gospel. We all hold different names. Each one of us serve the Lord like we want to. Our lord did teach us how to praise, how to serve him.
