Some say the end is near.
Some say we'll see armageddon soon.
I certainly hope we will.
I sure could use a vacation from this
Bullshit three ring circus sideshow of
Freaks
Here in this hopeless fucking hole we call LA
The only way to fix it is to flush it all away.
Any fucking time. Any fucking day.
Learn to swim, I'll see you down in Arizona bay.
Fret for your figure and
Fret for your latte and
Fret for your lawsuit and
Fret for your hairpiece and
Fret for your prozac and
Fret for your pilot and
Fret for your contract and
Fret for your car.
It's a
Bullshit three ring circus sideshow of
Freaks
Here in this hopeless fucking hole we call LA
The only way to fix it is to flush it all away.
Any fucking time. Any fucking day.
Learn to swim, I'll see you down in Arizona bay.
Some say a comet will fall from the sky.
Followed by meteor showers and tidal waves.
Followed by faultlines that cannot sit still.
Followed by millions of dumbfounded dipshits.
Some say the end is near.
Some say we'll see armageddon soon.
I certainly hope we will cuz
I sure could use a vacation from this
Stupid shit, Silly shit, stupid shit...
One great big festering neon distraction,
I've a suggestion to keep you all occupied.
Learn to swim.
Mom's gonna fix it all soon.
Mom's comin' round to put it back the way it ought to be.
Learn to swim.
Fuck L Ron Hubbard and
Fuck all his clones.
Fuck all these gun-toting
Hip gangster wannabes.
Learn to swim.
Fuck retro anything.
Fuck your tattoos.
Fuck all you junkies and
Fuck your short memory.
Learn to swim.
Fuck smiley glad-hands
With hidden agendas.
Fuck these dysfunctional,
Insecure actresses.
Learn to swim.
Cuz I'm praying for rain
And I'm praying for tidal waves
I wanna see the ground give way.
I wanna watch it all go down.
Mom please flush it all away.
I wanna see it go right down.
I wanna watch it go right in.
Watch you flush it all away.
Time to bring it down again.
Don't just call me pessimist.
Try and read between the lines.
I can't imagine why you wouldn't
Welcome any change, my friend.
I wanna see it all come down.
put it down.
suck it down.
flush it down.

come on people this song its about the end of the capitalism, the end of this fucking system, were you have to buy more than what you need..."welcome any change my friend"...he talks about "mom" refeering to mother earth, she will "comin' round to put it back the way it thought to be"...the maya´s (an old culture from latin america) had a very especific calendar (more than ours) and they told us that in 2012 its going to happend something big..."watch the weather change"

i think LA is used symbolically as a representive of our culture. he keeps saying he wants to get rid of all of this bullshit that has grown popular in our culture, at least in america. i mean, it's obviously meaning more than he is simply saying, because he bothers to say not to just call him pessimistic but read between the lines, which he normally doesn't have to tell a tool fan but he does.
Tool doesn't appear an any of their videos. I'm not sure why exactly, but it's for a certain reason. As previously mentioned they haven't appeared in any of their videos except for "Hush" off their first album Opiate. That video actually has meaning to the song as they are all naked except for a parental advisory box on their midsections. The song is about cencorship and how its bullshit.
Arizona Bay | Reviewer: The Goat Boy | 1/9/08
Keenan incorporates into the lyrics part of comedian Bill Hicks' "Arizona Bay" routine.
Bill Hicks was a friend of the band. Tool intended to raise awareness about Hicks' material and ideas, because they felt that Tool and Hicks "were resonating similar concepts".
"Ahhh, it's gone, it's gone, it's gone...All the shitty shows are gone, all the idiots screaming in the fucking wind are dead, I love it...leaving nothing but a cool, beautiful serenity called Arizona Bay. That's right, when L.A. falls in the fucking ocean and is flushed away, all it will leave is Arizona Bay." -- Bill Hicks
well all tool songs are complicated....
like this, the video does have a meaning because the world is constantly changing and he doesnt want it to happen which the lyrics are discribing or it could be so simple you didnt look beind the box ;D
if you find out tell me because i wanna know
Question Below. | Reviewer: Well | 11/6/07
If you haven't noticed, as far as every music video of Tool I've seen, no video relates to the literal meaning and moral of the song. Unless, of course, as Tool likes to give it, they are relating it in the most unorthodox manner, causing you to look outside the box - WAY outside of the box - to understand it.
Wat up with video | Reviewer: pooskillet777 | 7/16/07
wats up with the vidoeo it doesnt talk about LA and stuff it just shows a guy throwing this alien thing agaisnst the walls
then we have the anima/enema theory. anima = your life spirit, enema = a cleansing, and in this song he's speaking of the spiritual cleansing. the song is called aenema, the whole album is called aenima, neither of which is a word in itself but is a combination of two words, anima and enema, and the whole album being called aenima signifies the anima and aenema is a part of the whole.
in my opinion, this song is much more about purification of all the shit in the world, not just LA. kind of like the biblical flood, wash it all away.
Great song | Reviewer: Os | 1/28/07
